Educate. Empower. Evolve.
|
|
Greetings!
Dear Members,
On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff at New Dimensions Federal Credit Union, I would like to extend greetings and best wishes to each one of you in the new year. The credit union’s slogan, “Educate Empower Evolve” focuses on the strengths of your credit union as a local, member-owned financial cooperative. One which provides state-of-the-art convenient financial services, as well as financial education, so our members can make sound decisions to enhance their financial lives.
The staff and volunteers are very committed to our social responsibilities by providing fundraising opportunities and volunteer hours to the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger, Special Olympics Maine, and the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, not to mention the many additional volunteer hours that are given to several of the other charitable organizations.
Because of you, we have continued to evolve for over 60 years and have strived to meet all of your financial needs. We, your credit union, value the relationship we’ve built together and for the cooperation that makes us stronger together--not only as we celebrate 60 years--but for the many years to come as we look to doing business with your children and grandchildren.
Thank you for your continued support and for being part of our organization of people helping people. May you all have good health and prosperity in the year to come.
Best regards,
Ryan G. Poulin
President/CEO

Identity thieves may be targeting your kids
|
|
A rash of data breaches has taught many of us to scrutinize our personal credit reports for fraudulent accounts. We don’t monitor credit reports for our young children, though, because we don’t expect them to have one.
That can give an identity thief
carte blanche
to use a child’s clean credit history when applying for a loan, opening credit card and bank accounts, applying for government benefits, or renting an apartment. It’s a danger that parents should be aware of, according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)*.

Nominating Committee and Election Procedures
As mandated in Article 5 of the New Dimensions Federal Credit Union Bylaws, a Nominating Committee has been appointed to nominate candidates for vacancies on the Board of Directors.
The nominating committee consists of the following credit union members:
- Jeannine DeRosby
- Marianne Finkbeiner
- Judith Smith
The terms of Roland Dechaine and Marianne Finkbeiner will expire at the upcoming Annual Meeting. Both Dechaine and Finkbeiner have decided not to seek re-election. Also, Dana Sumner had been appointed by the board of directors to fill the vacancy left by Charles Rumsey IV until the next Annual Meeting. The nominating committee has nominated Chuck Calkins, Gary Smith, and Dana Sumner and they have filed those nominations with the Secretary of the Board of Directors.
Members not nominated by the committee, who would like to run in the election, may be nominated by the membership through the submission of a petition signed by at least one percent of the membership*. Nominees must include a resume, statement of qualifications, biographical data, and a statement of willingness to serve as a director, addressed to the Nominating Committee, 61 Grove Street, Waterville, ME 04901.
Petitions and information must be received by noon on February 6, 2017 to be considered. There will be no nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting and members will vote at that time to elect directors.
*A petition would require 82
signatures
to make up one percent of the membership as of November 30, 2016.
