Our own founder, Joan, moved to Guatemala for her retirement. She is living happily there with her little horse, cats, dog and a loving community. Retiring outside of the US can be a new and exciting adventure that does not have to break the bank.
When the cost of San Francisco is getting us down, we sometimes peruse  International Living Magazine.  Some tidbits:
1.  In Toulon, a town occupying a prime spot on the Cote d'Azur, a retired couple could live comfortably on $1800 a month thanks in part to all the public healthcare benefits living in France provides.
2.  In Panama City it is possible to find a two-bedroom apartment in the convenient 12 de Octubre area for just $72,000.
3. Grocery staples like potatoes, tomatoes, eggs and onions in Greece can be purchased fresh for 30-40% less than what they would cost in a Florida grocery store.
