Notes from Ms. Dahnke
Choices and Forgiveness
Without going into details, many of us learned some important lessons this week. Granted, it was a full moon and many looked at a four-day week as shorter and more fun, even though there was work to be done. However, it was a crazy week and most of the week centered around one word...Choices.Needless to say, we make choices every day and every minute of the day. No matter how many choices we have made, we never seem to get it right; we still mess up. The definition of choices, according to Dictionary.com is "
an act or instance of
choosing
." Notice it states that a choice is an act not a person. While the act might define what we do, the person defines who we are and we should not let our choices make that determination.
There have been several discussions, this week, on choosing friends wisely. If we look at the example that Jesus set for us, we will befriend those who are "down on their luck", outcasts, homeless, disabled, etc. God has called us to be Christ-like to everyone and that does not exclude anyone. However, the problem comes in when we consider our sinful nature and how easily led we are by all the glitz, glamour, and apparent job of living a life without Him. For some reason, we believe we have the same NO power as Jesus did when Satan lead him to the desert for 40 days and 40 nights. We feel that we are strong enough to overcome even the greatest of peer pressures and temptations to choose God. We become the person with whom we spend the most time.
Whether or not you took physics in school, you know that gravity pulls things down. The same is true of our friendships, our marriages, our acquaintances, our surroundings. If we do not choose those things that will lead us positively, we need not choose them. Let's look at it another way. We are in the midst of Holy Week where we remember the death and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. There are only two ways to go when we die, either to Him or away from Him. One way points upward to the cross; the other way points downward. The fact that the cross was on a hill means that the trek was upward and those who were onlookers had to look upward to Jesus. This is still true today. We need to keep our eyes on the cross.
If we choose to "minister" to those around us, we need to be constantly looking Heavenward and reminding ourselves who we belong to as temptations come our way. Our actions, when we are being pulled downward will speak louder than who we are as a person. Our actions define our person. We will make mistakes and we will roll down the hill, often, but as long as we continue to look to the cross, our Heavenly Father will keep reaching down and providing the strength and the means to start moving back towards Him.
All of us at BCA wish you the most Blessed Easter. May our Savior make Himself known to you in the events of this weekend and may you feel the joy that His death and resurrection brings.

Thank You
A huge thank you to those who helped at the Daddy-Daughter dance this past Saturday. A special thanks to Mrs. Kerri Beth Tew and Mrs. Jamie Sunderland who spent many hours planning and purchasing things for the dance. Thank you also to those who helped set up, prepare food, serve, and clean up including Brad and Shelly Jackson, Brian Tew, Youlnique Pollard, Debra Luffman, and Barb Tew. A big thank you to all those who came, too.

Chapel
Everyone is welcome to join us for our chapel service on Wed., Apr. 19 at 8:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Mr. Frank Streufert will be leading this service. Our 4th quarter chapel offerings will go to Bridge Community Church.

Progress Reports
The Mid-Term of our 4th quarter ends Thurs., Apr. 13. Progress Reports will be sent home via InfoDirect on Wednesday, April 19.
Living History Museum at BCA - Fri., Apr. 21
All students in kindergarten through 8th grade will participate in the Living History Museum on Fri., Apr. 21 in the BCA gym.
The following classes will each represent a special category:
- Kindergarten & 1st grade students - pop icons
- 2nd grade - famous authors/book characters
- 3rd grade - famous inventors
- 4th & 5th grades - biographical figures
- 6th grade - historical figures in world history
- 7th & 8th students - historical figures in American history
Students in K - 3rd grades will present from 9 - 10 a.m.
4th - 8th grades will present from 10 - 11 a.m.
Everyone is invited to attend this very impressive history museum.
Spring Picture Proofs - Money/Orders due by Apr. 26
The spring individual and class picture proofs were sent home in book bags today. If you choose to order these, please return money along with the proof(s) by Wed., Apr. 26. Checks need to be payable to Lifetouch.
Blue Jean $ Day - Apr. 28
Fri., Apr. 28 will be our next Blue Jean $$ Day! Please bring in at least $1 to wear blue jeans with a dress code top or BCA T-shirt. Proceeds will go to Bridge City.
