Virginia was a highly dedicated and respected Christian missionary to Africa.  She told a story about one dark night in a missionary settlement when some of the men of the settlement were serving as sentries during the night.  They guarded the homes and carried notes at night between the residents.  Virginia mentioned that one night she heard one of the sentries at her front door.  When she went to the door the sentry delivered a note.

It was a dark tropical night.  The sentry held only a small kerosene lantern.  Virginia pointed out the light wasn't very bright.  The sentry said, "No, but it shines as far as I can step."

God always shines His light as far as we can step.  Are you anxious?  Weary?  Heavy hearted?  Afraid? Worried?  Take one step at a time, and remember the wise words, "In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths."

Prayer:  "Loving God, help me to be all you would have me to be, in Jesus' name.  Amen."
