Pathway to Joy

Growing our Pathway to Joy

Did you walk our new brick pathway to the Sukkah this year?  Did you linger to read the bricks put there to honor loved ones and commemorate simchas?  Did you wish that you had ordered a brick too and regret that you hadn't?

Now is your chance to do so!

We are proud to announce that we are now open for orders for a second round of bricks.  If you order before December 31 your brick will be ready for dedication on Purim (February 28th)  And you will have helped fund Shir Chadash's services, education, programs and vision for next year and all the years to come.

Bricks are available in three sizes, and inscriptions may include English and/or Hebrew.  Click  here  for more information and to submit your order.  Or come to the office and Danielle will gladly help you.

Rabbi Silver has already ordered Zalman's brick.  Will you place an order too?

Lisa Finkelstein, President

When Do I Sit, When Do I Stand?
A JCC Course at Shir Chadash with Rabbi Silver

3 January 2018 7.30pm
Conservative Judaism - Stuck In The Middle?

In this session we will consider the genesis of Conservative Judaism in the USA.  Using both text and roleplays we will explore some of its major tenets: its relationship to halakhah, its understanding of the revelation of Torah and the way it makes legal decisions.  We will also consider the worldwide Masorti movement and its relationship to American Conservative Judaism.

The Orchard - Four Ways to Pray

It can often be a challenge to pray from a fixed liturgy, particularly when that liturgy is lengthy, complex and hard to infuse with our own spirituality even in translation.  We will use a centuries-old system of interpretation, originally invented by the Rabbis to study Torah, to open up some possibilities of how we might re-energize our communal prayers.
