SCCS STAFF & FACULTY MEMBERS ATTEND STEMCON
On April 7, Mrs. Sarah Meyer, Mr. Tim Riedy. Mrs. Janelle White and Mrs. Lisa MacMurray attended STEMCON, a full day conference to learn more about building better STEM education programs. STEM is an educational program developed to prepare primary and secondary students for college and graduate study in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In addition to subject-specific learning, STEM aims to foster inquiring minds, logical reasoning, and collaboration skills. Mrs. MacMurray said of the conference, "We listened to presenters from all over the United States speak on implementing STEM into the current classroom, both in the elementary and in the middle school, as well as incorporating robots into the middle school classrooms." This additional training coincides with the opening of the Thomas and Barbara Roth Middle School STEM lab for the 2017-2018 school year.
