Ross Photography Contest
The Ross Foundation 4-H Photography Contest entries are due to the County Extension Office by Friday, May 19th. This contest provides an opportunity for 4-H'ers to demonstrate, compete, and exhibit their photography skills.  All 4-H members ages 9-19 are eligible.
The contest consists of four categories:
  • Color Living
  • Color Non-Living
  • Black & White Living
  • Black & White Non-Living

Photographs entered MUST meet these guidelines:
  • Any photo that is exclusively plant-life (bushes, flowers, trees, etc.) should be entered in the "non-living" category.  The "living" category is for people and animals.
  • All scenes and subjects must be in Arkansas.
  • Must have been taken during the current contest year (July 2016 - present)
  • An 8 x 10" print is required for judging, and a negative or computer disk containing image MUST accompany the photo
  • Only one version of each photo can be entered.
  • Use photo editing is limited to "darkroom techniques" (cropping, dodging and burning, saturation, exposure).
At the county level, each 4-H member may enter a unique, original photo into each category.  Four county winners will be selected, one in each category.  Those winners will be sent on for state judging.  The top 3 places in each category will receive cash prizes from the Clark County 4-H Foundation.

Consider these tips from the State Office:
  • Be sure the date stamp isn't printed on the photo
  • Shoot in high resolution digital file (for digital cameras)
  • Find a "focus" for each photo, something that draws your eye.
  • Explore your community, get away from the beaten path.
  • Keep your images sharp by using a tripod, two hands or leaning on something.
  • Be creative, find original and interesting angles.
SMOKED PORK BUTT ANNUAL FUNDRAISER

Smoked Pork Butt Fundraiser

Clark County 4-H Foundation is holding its annual smoked pork butt  fundraiser to help raise money to assist with the 4-H van insurance/  maintenance and other programming costs.

We need all hands on deck to help us reach our goal of selling AT LEAST 125 pork butts!  Fat Boys Fine Food and Catering has generously offered to smoke them for us and donate some of their supplies.

You can start selling these 7-9 lbs., bone-in pork butts for $35 each today!  These should feed 10-12 people and freeze well.  All pork butts will be smoked the week of May 22nd (just before Memorial Day), and potentially delivered to pick-up spots around the county that week. ALL PORK BUTTS WILL BE PRE-SOLD.  All sales must be turned in by Wednesday, May 17th.

Have checks made out to "Clark County 4-H".  Please get the person's name, phone number, email address, where they would like to pick up their order (Alpine, Arkadelphia, or Gurdon) and number they are purchasing.  This information is important for being able to contact them with their pick-up time and date.  Keep a sheet of paper just for your pork butt sales.  Put this and the payments in a zip-top baggie.

Please report your sales to the Extension Office each week.
