Kindergarten Transitioning & Conferences

Kindergarten will be here soon for some of our students!  We will have conferences April 12th and 13th to discuss and plan the transition that your child will make into elementary school.  For some students, this is a time of happy anticipation while others worry about experiencing the unknown.  We want to support each family through this transition!

Conferences will also be held for students transitioning into Prekindergarten!  Please sign up outside of the teacher classrooms.
Open House 2017-2018

Play in Preschool/PK

Having opportunities for imaginitive play is very important!  Play takes many forms but children learn through all of them.  Here are some forms of play and an article on the importance of play!

  • Onlooker behavior-Playing passively by watching or conversing with other children engaged in play activities.
  • Solitary independent-Playing by oneself.
  • Parallel-Playing, even in the middle of a group, while remaining engrossed in one's own activity. Children playing parallel to each other sometimes use each other's toys, but always maintain their independence.
  • Associative-When children share materials and talk to each other, but do not coordinate play objectives or interests.
  • Cooperative-When children organize themselves into roles with specific goals in mind (e.g., to assign the roles of doctor, nurse, and patient and play hospital).
