A timely message regarding the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund - Donate Today
|
Dear Friends,
As Chanukah is upon us and as we approach the end of the calendar year, we request that you please consider making a gift to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund (RDF). Since our last public appeal for the RDF a few years ago, the Fund has helped us assist families to send their children to Yeshiva Day School, High School and Israel - it has helped us defray the cost of major healthcare needs, and has helped the urgent financial needs of people, due to a variety of circumstances. There is barely a day that goes by without someone asking for assistance from the Fund. The Fund serves a vital purpose in primarily helping individuals and organizations in our own community; it also provides support and assistance in the wider Jewish community - in the New York area and in Israel.
It helps our community to collectively support causes and circumstances that are truly important and worthy of our care and concern. The Fund assists dozens of individuals and organizations that reinforce our communal values. We try to respond to all requests with discretion and with the care and compassion for which our community is known, and it truly enables all of us to make a real difference in the lives of others with anonymity and dignity. This is, as many of us know, the best way that Tzedaka should be given. And, while the Fund operates in the most discreet way, it is overseen by two well-respected members of the community who sign all checks from the Fund.
Over the years, generous donors have quietly contributed to the Fund and I am so appreciative of their continued support, but at this time, for the reasons outlined above, we'd like to extend the participation in this vital Mitzvah of Tzedaka to all. We ask that you consider a suggested gift to the Fund of $180 or more, though any amount would be appreciated. In addition, next time you consider making a donation to the Shul in honor, or in memory of someone, please consider directing it to the RDF. To make a donation
click here or send in a check marked "Rabbi's Discretionary Fund"
We thank you for your concern for Am Yisrael. May we always be blessed to be able to give and support others in times of need.
Respectfully,
Rabbi Jonathan Morgenstern

If you would like to get rid of:
* All clothing
* Linens
Get rid of the mess and get a mitzvah!
In addition to a mitzvah, you will receive a valuable tax deduction as well!
We are collecting these items for an organization called
KUPATH EZRAH OF ROCKLAND COUNTY
.
All items should be clean and in good shape, clothing should be up-to-date and still fashionable.
Remember: you are
giving these things to a 'close relative,' and it costs the organization money to sort
and dispose of poor merchandise.
Currently Scott Greenbaum is not able to take your donations to Monsey. Volunteers would be appreciated. Please contact Scott if you are able to help:

;
leave a message if we are not home.
