MSR Credits - You Need Them, We Have Them!

Yesterday, you received an email introducing  the MSR Completion Form designed to help you set a plan to meet the required 54 MSR credit requirement to remain in good standing as a PGA Professional. We hope that you will find this tool helpful and that through advanced planning, 100 percent of the Colorado PGA Professionals will meet this June 15 MSR cycle deadline.

CGA's Loss is North Dakota's Gain - Jensen Exiting Job as CGA Managing Director of Operations to Take Associate Dean Position with Alma Mater

It's difficult not to have a sense of deja vu regarding the impending career move of golf administrator Dustin Jensen.  Jensen, the CGA's managing director of operations, recently accepted a job as associate dean of student engagement at his alma mater, the University of Jamestown in his hometown of Jamestown, North Dakota.

Saturday is the Deadline to Submit West Chapter Awards Nominations

You have 48 hours left to nomination those you would like to see receive one of the West Chapter Awards. There are many great professionals in the West Chapter who are worthy of these awards. Nominations end Saturday, Dec. 16.

Colorado PGA has a 3- and a 7-Month Internship Available

The Colorado PGA and the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado couldn't operate the 80+ junior golf events they do each year without the help of their interns. The Colorado PGA is looking for two young people to fill these junior golf internship roles for the 2018 season. If you know of anyone looking for internship experience and feel that they would be a good fit, please share this information with them!

Don't Miss Out on PGA Junior League Workshops!

The Colorado PGA is offering three more PGA Junior League Workshops for Professionals to learn more about starting a new Junior League team or to help a current program flourish. All workshops run from 8 a.m. to noon.
  • January 9 - South Suburban Golf Course
  • January 16 - Fort Collins Country Club
  • January 18 - The Country Club of Colorado
Each workshop will be divided into two parts, earn 2 MSRs for each part. The first two hours will be geared toward starting a new team with discussions on taking the first step, recruiting players, scheduling matches and many other useful aspects of PGA Junior League team operations. The second half of the workshop will be diving deeper into operations and sharing best practices with the group. 

PGA Jr. League Captain Registration Open

If you are planning to host a Jr. League golf team in 2018, the Captain Registration is officially open. Registering now will allow ample time to recruit players and form leagues. There are several exciting updates and enhancements coming in 2018 so take this step to be a part of enriching lives through experiences that transcend golf.

Golf's Major Tours, Governing Bodies Will Stop Taking TV Viewer Call-ins Regarding Potential Rules Issues

Starting Jan. 1, the USGA and R&A collectively will no longer field rules inquires from viewers watching golf-tournament broadcasts on TV or streaming online as part of a new set of video review protocols.

PGA Professional Championship Marks its First Move to April with a 2019 Visit to Scenic Belfair in South Carolina  

Belfair of Bluffton, South Carolina, will host the 2019 PGA Professional Championship, the world's largest all-professional event. The 52nd edition of the PGA Professional Championship will be conducted for the first time in the spring, April 28-May 1, 2019. All four rounds will be broadcast live on Golf Channel. The Championship is presented by Club Car and OMEGA.

Bob Sowards Wins Event No. 4 of the PGA Tournament Series

When Bob Sowards signed his scorecard Tuesday, he didn't think he had a chance of winning Event No. 4 of the PGA Tournament Series. Sowards won his eighth career PGA Tournament Series title with a 4-under 68 to finish at 5-under 139.

PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship Link Live

The PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship application is available on PGA.org. Established in 1986, the program provides college scholarships for children and grandchildren of PGA Members.
 
There is a  new feature this year. A toll free number - (888) 713-9098 - will be able to provide information about the scholarship, dates, etc.

Important dates to remember:
  • November 16, 2017 - Scholarship application live on pga.org.
  • March 1, 2018 - Deadline to submit the application.
  • March 19, 2018 - Deadline to have all supporting documents submitted, provided applicant is eligible.
