Be part of the tradition, while it's being made!
Hi, Everyone.

Congratulations to our Silver Nationals competitors and especially our Scozzie Champ Sameer!  The coaches are still smiling at what was a spectacular weekend and you'll read all about it in Chris' article.

Moving forwards is important and that is what Scozzie is all about.  This weekend will see our first installment of our new Fitness Testing Regimen, which the coaches believe will add enormous value.  You can read Lyall's explanation below and book directly.

Additionally in this email we have our notable awards of the week where you can get a feel for some of the hard work done in lessons, squads and tournaments from the team.  If you need a quick reminder about SAS makeup squads (10:30am this Saturday!) and suchlike you can find that on the main website here.

Finally our thoughts turn to summer camps, as it will be June before we know it!  Click here for the big picture with our featured away camps and  here for a quick breakdown of our day camps at the club.

As always, please reply to this email with any questions and I'll make sure you're 100% comfortable with your Spring and Summer Squash Plans.

See you around the club.

Paul
Paul and a few words after the weekend!

28 Scozzies qualified, 9 quarter finalists, 8 semi finalists, 4 finalists - a million smiles!

Congratulations to everyone who competed.  The standard of junior squash has never been higher!  It was no small achievement for players to make the draw and all our entrants should be proud of their seasons.
Easy to overlook would be Scozzies two Most Improved Player Awards, with Caroline and Nikhil carrying on what is now a Scozzie tradition.  Our program has a deserved reputation for fast tracking talented youngsters at Gold, Silver and Bronze levels and the MIP's should be exceptionally proud of their hard work.

Finally some heart felt thanks from me personally.

Firstly, thank you to all the Scozzies who had their training disrupted for three days without complaint and for their support of their training buddies in action.  I believe hosting the event was the right thing to do to assist the US Squash Community and one weekend of disruption, although not ideal, was a good call.

Secondly I'd like to recognize the contribution of the coaches and staff at the club who worked tirelessly before, during and after the event to make things run as smoothly as possible and to make sure all our players had the positive and successful experience they deserved.  Thank you to all the staff and congratulations to the coaches who once again proved that they are the finest crew of squash coaches ever assembled in the US.

Bigger things ahead! - Paul
Chris' Reportage of the Scozzie Silver Nationals!

"The 2017 Silver Nationals was conducted at the home of Scozzie!  Our 14 court facility was taken over by US Squash this past weekend as we saw 10 draws all full come from across the country for the chance to gain a National Title!"

Scozzie Fitness Testing is HERE NOW!

Upon conclusion of Gold and Silver Nationals, Scozzie will commence our first official testing sessions at 11:30am on Saturday 15th April.
The 2017 Fitness Combine will run through a series of baseline measures to establish training protocols transitioning into the spring and summer, where fitness development is a top priority. The aspects of fitness identified will include cardio/muscular endurance, speed/agility, strength and flexibility and the testing protocols will be exclusive to squash.
NATIONAL CHAMPION and Tournament Player of the week  :)  Coach Mick Reports...

Scozzie tournament player of the week is our new BU/15 National Silver Champ Sameer 'Stable' Saxena!
Sameer did not play many events this season due to school and family commitments, but has made up for the lack of tournament play with a focused training regime plus a little secret weapon. Wouldn't be a secret if I gave that away right now would it

Our P2P Tour continues in May!

Great match play without the pressure of US Squash ranking points!

Details here and email Lyall to enter!
Scozzie of the Week - Coach Lyall gives the Award!

John had a tremendous training week post the Franklin P2P and has been putting in grinding hours on and off court aiming to push his game to the next level.

Scozzie Lesson of the Week from Coach Chris!

Dhivya has been working very hard these past few weeks. After winning the Baltimore Silver at Meadow Mill, Dhivya continued to work hard in lessons, solo time, and during squads to gear up for Silver Nationals.
Dhivya gave a great performance and effort at Silver Nationals, knocking out a few seeds along the way before advancing to the semis of the consol draw.

Scozzie Tournament Coaching!

Our next Scozzie supported tournament will be the Cynwyd Silver in two weeks time, followed closely by the Bronze Nationals in Stamford.

Our Scozzie Coaching Priority Rules remain the same for this event, as they have for many years, however please note that Scozzie does offer the opportunity for you to book your own private coach for dedicated service throughout a tournament.  For details on availability and cost, email Lyall and he'll go through the logistics!
