SCIA Process - Also Known as 1-to-1 Instructional Assistant: A Balanced Approach
Tuesday, April 11, 2017 - 10 am - 12 noon (date changed from April 4)
The pros and cons of using one-to-one instructional assistants will be presented, as well as practical tips on how to tell if this is an effective intervention for your child.  In addition, an overview of the evaluation process for special circumstances instruction assistance (SCIA) will be reviewed.
To the World and Beyond! Successful Transition Practices
Thursday, April 25, 2017 - 8 am - 2 pm
Quality indicators support our transition practices which lead to positive postsecondary outcomes for all students.  Participants will learn how to effectively use Levels of Assessment to create an Individualized Transition Plan (ITP).  Evidence-based practices and predictors will be reviewed.

Excellence in Special Education Awards Ceremony

You are invited to attend this uplifting celebration of the Excellence in Special Education Award recipients - the educators, students, parents, employers and community members who demonstrate excellence in special education.

All programs in this newsletter are available and free to families whose children attend one of the school districts that are a part of NCCSE: 

Bonsall Unified, Cardiff, Carlsbad Unified, Del Mar Union, Encinitas Union,  

Fallbrook Union Elementary, Fallbrook Union High, Oceanside Unified,  

Rancho Santa Fe, San Dieguito Union High, San Marcos Unified, Solana Beach, Vallecitos, and Vista Unified, as well as families whose children receive services through California Early Start.

 

Unless otherwise noted, all programs are presented in English with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish.

El Proceso SCIA - También Conocido Como Asistente de Instrucción Individualizado:  Un Enfoque Equilibrado

Se presentarán los pros y los contras de la educación individualizada con los asistentes de instrucción, asi como consejos prácticos para saber si se trata de una intervención eficaz para su hijo. Adicionalmente se revisará la información general del proceso de evaluación de la asistencia de instrucción para circunstancias especiales conocido por sus siglas en inglés como SCIA.
