“I Am the Vine:  Letting God’s Power Flow Through Us"

Join us this Sunday as we continue our sermon series on the Seven I AMs of Jesus.  This Sunday Jesus claims to be the vine and calls his followers the branches.

Come see what God might do through us when we stay connected to our Source.

Bring a friend and come worship with us.  That Joy Tabernacle Choir is ready to inspire us!!  You won't wanna miss this!

John 15:1-8 (NRSV)
Jesus the True Vine

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower.  He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes[ a] to make it bear more fruit.  You have already been cleansed[ b] by the word that I have spoken to you.  Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me.  I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.  Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.  If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.  My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become[ c] my disciples.
Juan 15:1-8  (DHH)

Spiritual Transformaiton
The God We Can Know is a 7-week study designed for the entire congregation to explore the "I Am" sayings of Jesus found in the Gospel of John. This series will help you find and form an answer to the most essential question in the Christian faith, "Who do you say I am?"
One by one, Jesus statements grab our imagination, reveal more about his identity and purpose, and connect us to the God of Moses, who spoke the first "I Am." These significant yet ordinary images (bread, light, shepherd, vine, and more) give us insightful ways to experience Jesus and point us to a God who wants to be known.
The DVD, filmed on location in the Holy Land, allows you to travel with Rob Fuquay and actually see the places where Jesus stood when he disclosed his true identity, and in what context he spoke each "I Am."

If God is love, we are loved.
Dr. Wilson knows that she has been part of the LGBTQ story of people standing up and saying, “Enough!”
I Love to Tell the Story is a collection of over 100 stories of love. From burying their dead from AIDS, fighting with the National Council of Churches, standing on courthouse steps for marriage, Rev. Dr. Nancy Wilson and thousands of other MCC history-makers were on the front lines preaching love for all.
Read I Love to Tell the Story because these stories will leave you inspired and empowered to continue the quest of preaching love for God and the love for humankind—all kinds.
George Lytle, a local attorney, will make a presentation about the different types of legal documents available. These are designed to support you and your family. Some topics that will be covered include: Wills, Living Wills, Designated Health Surrogates, Power of Attorney, and Medical Directives. Trusts will be discussed but require in-depth discussions between you and your attorney. These will need to handled outside of this seminar. In addition to George Lytle, there will be a notary present so most of the documents covered can be created and notarized before you leave.

Registration is required, please RSVP by email to Endowment@JoyMCC.com . There is a $5.00 registration fee to cover the light lunch provided and printed materials, and is payable at the event. There will be a fee for notarized forms ($50.00 for a Will and $5.00 for other documents). Once you have registered, you will receive via email a planning guide so you can collect the information needed to complete the documents at the seminar.
