Have You Noticed?
The weather is starting to get nice

Planning on a Visit?

Looks like we are going to have nice weather the next couple of weekends and a lot of you will probably come up. Please remember that most other parks in the area do not allow anyone into their facility until after April 1, and generally do not allow anyone to spend the night until after April 15. We don't want to find it necessary to enforce a similar policy, so we need your help and cooperation.

Below are a couple of key things to keep in mind if you do decide to pay the park a visit
:

1. All rules are in effect. Sometimes I have had people say "Well, the park's not open yet, so . . .  "
What a silly thing to say. The park is obviously open; otherwise you wouldn't be here!

2. We don't have trash service yet. It is standard practice at every park in the area that you take your trash home when you leave, at least for the first couple weeks. We would also appreciate you doing that. All of our dumpsters have their lids tied shut except for the one next to the ranger's kitchen. So, NO SPRING CLEANING at this point. We realize that this is where most of the trash comes from during the first part of the season, and we won't have trash service for another month. If you get caught opening a dumpster, you will get fined. A lot. According to the other campground managers that I speak with, misuse of the dumpsters is the single biggest reason the other parks closed are closed now.

3. We have been doing a lot of tree trimming and have cut down a lot of diseased Ash trees. We have a buyer that is interested in this wood. Remember, it is a $50 fine if you take something off of someone's lot without prior park approval. While lot owners usually have to pay for arbor services on their lots, we have cut down diseased Ash trees wherever possible, at no charge.

That being said, we are considering offering the wood to you. We are just worried, logistically, as to how to do this. The decision will depend in part on how many people are interested. If you are interested in this wood and are signed up for our newsletter already, please email Shelly at sskildum@jellystonefort.com and let her know how much wood you would like. Also, please indicate if you would like just the wood on your lot if there is some, or if you would take any wood you can get. Bear in mind that you would be expected to clean up everything at a location, not just the big wood, but remove all of the small twigs and branches. We will evaluate the feedback we receive and let you know what the decision is in the next newsletter.

4. Be aware that as it thaws, the ground is very soft. If you drive anywhere except on the roads or on your parking pad, you are very likely to leave deep trenches that will need to be repaired. You will be responsible to make these repairs should that happen.

5. Lodge Hours
No lodge hours this weekend, and limited lodge hours beginning March 31. More details to follow in the next newsletter.

6. Curious minds want to know . . .
The answer is no, I have not as yet sold the park. More details will be provided at the Spring meeting on May 5.

All the Best,
Steve Cline
