The WAHS music department presented Broadway's "Hairspray" in two performances on March 17 and 18.

The musical, which starred WAHS's Lindsey Taylor as Tracy Turnblad, is set in 1962 Baltimore and follows "the lovable plus-size teen ... (as she pursues her) only one desire - to dance on the popular 'Corny Collins Show.' When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen (Nell Barbour), win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin (Ethan Fisher), and integrate a network ... all without denting her 'do!"

'BARRAGE 8' COMING TO WAHS
Super String Group Barrage 8 is set to take the WAHS stage at 7:30 p.m. on April 5 - and district students are ready to join them.

The ensemble, known worldwide for their high energy, panache and innovative stage performance, represents a re-imagining of the string octet: five violins, viola, cello and double bass. The instrumentation drives a rich and powerful sonic palette that further explores the musical diversity in the Barrage 8 compositions and arrangements.
