Investment Process
Trainings
In March 52 staff at 29 of our partner agencies received free training by United Way staff on our outcomes measures method known as Results Based Accountability.
Application Process
Currently 30 programs have submitted their applications online and additional "Car Pool" applications are due on April 12, 2017.
Staff met with 18 agencies to discuss:
- In large programs, what is the focus/value of United Way funds?
- In small programs primarily or exclusively funded by United Way, is the program still viable?
- For capacity building grants, is United Way funding still necessary?
- When staff have concerns about results, how could this program be more effective?
Staff met with two collaborations - "Car Pool Lane"
- Hillyard Youth Collaborative - improving school culture and student success (Garry Middle School, Shaw Middle School, Communities in Schools, Boys & Girls Clubs, Gonzaga University)
- YouthReach - outreach and services for homeless youth ages 12 - 21 (YFA Connections, VOA Crosswalk, TeamChild, Excelsior Youth Center)
Future Opportunities
We are having conversations with Empire Health Foundation, Inland Northwest Community Foundation, Avista Foundation and Premera Foundation about opportunities to align funding in support of our Vision 2020.
We are evaluating a web-based portal (Results Scorecard) to show program results and community indicators related to our goals in Education, Financial Stability and Health.
