CRRJ Celebrates Five Years of Service

Over 100 students and stakeholders from the reproductive health, rights, and justice community gathered on campus on October 27 to connect with one another and explore multi-disciplinary issues on cutting-edge issues. CRRJ@5: Unrivaled + Undaunted marked the fifth anniversary of CRRJ with a daylong conference that featured lively and informative panels on Abolishing Welfare Family Caps; Teaching Reproductive Rights and Justice in Law Schools; Overturning Harris v McRae; and Halting the Criminalization of Self-Induced Abortion. The day began with CRRJ Executive Director Jill E. Adams leading a rousing call and response and ended with heartwarming toasts at a rooftop cocktail reception overlooking the San Francisco Bay.

Thank you to all of the speakers and participants who came from all over the country to make the day a wonderful success.

Make Your Year-End Gift to CRRJ Today
CRRJ has brilliant ideas and big plans, but we can't make them a reality without you.  We rely on contributions from individuals who share our vision and value our work. We do not receive
funding from the school and must raise 100% of our budget externally.

Please consider making a tax-exempt donation today.   We welcome gifts of all sizes, which can be made in a  matter of minutes by completing Berkeley Law's secure online donation form.

Congratulations to the Courage Award Winners

New Report from the SIA Legal Team
The  SIA Legal Team, which CRRJ convenes, has just released its latest report, " Roe's Unfinished Promise: Decriminalizing Abortion Once and for All." The report paints the most complete picture to date of the criminalization of non-clinical abortion in the U.S. It describes how states put people who self-manage abortion in legal jeopardy and provides insights to challenge and repeal these antiquated and misapplied laws. The   report  includes:
  • A chart listing problematic laws state by state
  • Maps highlighting some of the places where people are at risk for unjustified arrest
  • Excerpts from relevant statutes
  • Case summaries
  • Theories to enhance protections and eliminate threats
  • Recommendations for people engaged in advocacy, organizing, and other efforts to ensure that people are able to end pregnancies with dignity and without fear of arrest.
