March 2017
ACTION OF THE MONTH:

Our Immigration Services program has been inundated with phone calls after a series of stricter immigration laws were laid out by the new administration.

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, QCH has received a $7,500 matching grant to support the increased demand on our paralegal services. Please consider donating to help us meet our match and expand our services. You donation will go twice as far during this crucial time! Thank you.

Celebrate  Spring   at  our  Local  Champions  Reception
QCH's annual spring event honors an outstanding leader in our community and bestows the Queens Community Builder Award to a borough resident who has worked to unite neighbors.
This year, we will honor Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce President
Leslie Brown and bestow the 2017  Communi ty Builder Award on Lester Lin, founder of City Mission
Join us for this fun, after-work cocktail party, which will include live music, a silent auction, and desserts by Food Network CHOPPED winner Chef Maria of Maria's Mediterranean Seafood & Grill.

Patrick  Pinchinat  Named  Pomonok  Site  Director
QCH is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Pinchinat as our new Pomonok Community Center Site Director. As Site Director, Pinchinat will be responsible for  coordinating existing programming, promoting greater  engagement with the community, and increasing the number and type of program offerings. The overarching goal of the new position is to expand the reach and breadth of our services so that we can permanently increase residents' chances for long-term success and build greater individual, family, and communal self-sufficiency.

Pinchinat previously  served as the director of QCH's Beacon Program in Forest Hills. He brings with him 20 years of youth development experience and is a recipient of the PASE setter Award issued by the Partnership for After-School Education.  Pinchinat is eager to connect with the broader community and bring more activity to the Pomonok Center for residents of all ages.
Participatory  Budgeting  Season  is  Here!
Here's a chance for you to have a say in how your City Council member uses funding in your district!

From March 25-April 2, residents of 31 districts that engage in Participatory Budgeting will have the opportunity to vote on proposals developed, submitted, and vetted by their neighbors (including improvements to schools, parks, libraries, public housing, and other public or community spaces).  You can vote for as many as five of your favorite project proposals; each participating Council Member guarantees at least $1 million in funding for the projects that receive the most votes. To vote, you have to be at least 14 years of age and live in the district
