Buda's Inaugural Legislative Day, March 8, 2017, at the Capitol was a success. 

The events of the day were the workings of the City of Buda staff, Buda Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC), along with the Buda Economic Development Corporation (EDC).

Representatives from each Buda entity worked together in teams to deliver gift baskets as well as convey the importance of specific bills, such as Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) and the use of Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds to improve sportsplex facilities, to every Legislative office in the Capitol.

Buda Mayor Todd Ruge, council members Lee Urbanovsky, George Haehn, City Manager Kenneth Williams and city department heads took part in the days' events, from the visits to every office in the Capitol to the reception at the Historical Austin Club that evening.

"It opened a lot of doors for us," Mayor Ruge said. 

A portion of the afternoon was set aside for an educational session where legislators discussed bills on ASR, transportation issues and HOT funds. They were eager to answer questions and hear Buda official's thoughts on each matter.

According to BACC Chairman of the Board Jeremy de Acala, "The day was fantastic, and we came together as a community." He stressed the importance of Buda being well represented by business owners, Chamber volunteers, EDC and city staff.

BACC members were not only in attendance for this special occasion at the Capitol but they also stepped up as members and businesses to financially support the event.
