Trolley Volunteers Restore, Maintain, Operate,

and Plan for the Future

The extraordinary Museum of Transportation Trolley Volunteers (MTTV) operate four historic streetcars at the Museum of Transportation.

The first is a 1947 Philadelphia Transit Company President's Conference Committee, (PCC), car number 2740, built by the Saint Louis Car Company - formerly located in the Baden section of St. Louis. Trolley volunteers will be giving this car a new coat of paint soon. Read more...

Annual Meeting of the Membership

The Transport Museum Association Annual Meeting of the Membership is Saturday, May 6th, 2017, at 10 am in The Earl C. Lindburg Automobile Center on the Don C. Musick Mezzanine, 2933 Barrett Station Road, Kirkwood, Missouri. (Museum Entrance #2)

S.T.E.a.M. Learning Lab Set to Open

The Museum of Transportation S.T.E.a.M. Learning Lab will open in the Earl C. Lindburg Automobile Center on Monday, April 17th.

The space will be used for scout and outreach classes focusing on teaching future generations about science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

During the school year, students on facilitated will enjoy the environment. To book a facilitated field trip, please call 314.965.6885, ext. #5.

Artifact of the Month - 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car

Many consider the 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car the most valuable automobile in the Museum of Transportation's Collection. Of the fifty-five that were built, only nine remain and of those nine, only three still run. The Museum is proud to own the only operational Chrysler Turbine Car on public exhibit.

April brings two opportunities to learn more about this fantastic car and hear the high-pitched whirl of its engine.

Start Your Engine...

On April 8th, from 11 am - 12 Noon, Mike Eberhardt, Turbine Car Expert, will be in the Earl C. Lindburg Automobile Building to start this rare engine for Museum guests. Mike will be available to answer questions about the Turbine Car. Jay Leno stopped by to see the Chrysler Turbine Car. We hope you do too! Regular Museum Admission applies.

The MOT Chrysler Turbine Car will be on exhibit and started on a regular basis at the 56th Annual Easter Concours d' Elegance Show presented by the Horseless Carriage Club of Missouri on Sunday, April 16th, from 11:30 am - 4:30 pm, in Forest Park.

Next Restoration Project Determined

The Baltimore and Ohio 173
"Camel" is the next MOT artifact set for restoration. Built in 1873 for the B&O Railroad, it was donated by Purdue University to the Museum of Transportation in 1951. The unique design placed the cab directly on top of the boiler. It is one of two surviving "camels" of this type. The other resides at the B&O Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.

Creation Station Hours Expanded

Creation Station is now open Monday - Friday with Boarding Times at 9:15, 10:30, and 11:45 am. Creation Station Family Sundays are the first and third Sunday of each month with Boarding Times at 11:15 am, 12:30, 1:45 and 3 pm. (Creation Station is closed on Easter Sunday.)

Creation Station is $2 per person and admission is first-come, first-served. Your entire party must be present to purchase tickets. Museum admission is additional and required.
