Ash Wednesday

Dear Friends,

This Sunday we hear the LONG story of the man born blind; it is one of the key texts of Lent and for those preparing to be baptized at the Easter Vigil. I invite you to read it before Sunday and meditate on its many meanings.

What does it mean to have been blind and now see? Why are those around the blind man so eager NOT to see the miracle? Notice how the man's faith grows throughout the passage even though Jesus disappears from the picture. Note, too, how eager many in the story are to blame the man and his family for his disability, how many are looking for reasons to blame Jesus for something, too.

I'm turning this story over in my heart and mind now; I look forward to sharing my thoughts and hearing yours on Sunday!

***********************

In other news, we are at the midpoint of Lent. Perhaps it's going well for you, perhaps it isn't. I invite you to refresh your Lenten promises, devotions, and disciplines by attending the Quiet Day this Saturday. There will be much to meditate on and a Mass for the Feast of the Annunciation; there will be time for prayer and to focus on the Cross. You don't have to stay for the whole day, but it might be just what you need . . . Interested? Please register today!

Beloved, you are beautiful, I love you, and God adores you.

In Christ,  Mother Suzanne+

Get Involved in Protecting Our Neighbors!

At our last meeting, our Vestry voted for All Saints to join a currently forming Sanctuary Network in Indianapolis that would protect the most vulnerable of our neighbors: undocumented immigrants, refugees, Muslims, and people of color, especially African Americans.

This is a proud moment in our history to stand up as Christians to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Want to get involved?
Come the training on Civil Disobedience THIS Friday at the  Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis. 615 W. 43rd St., Indianapolis, IN 46208. 6-8 pm.

Gifts for Bishop Waynick and Bishop-Elect Baskerville-Burrows

As a diocese, we will present a gift to Bishop Cate--a purse and something in her name at Waycross--and to Bishop-elect Jennifer--new vestments suitable for a bishop!

The Vestry invites you to contribute to these gifts so that All Saints might take part in thanking our current Bishop and welcoming our new Bishop. We will collect for both of these gifts on Sunday, April 2. The Vestry will match your gifts up to $500. Wouldn't it be grand to offer a $1000 in gifts (or more!)?

Thank you for your generosity.
