More than a Bookstore... a Community.
A Time for Growth and Celebration

If anything has been revealed this past months, it is that in our country (and, indeed, around the world) a divide fed by a lack of communication and a divergence of values based on the rhetoric we use to talk about issues. Now more than ever it's vital for us to think, listen, read, and speak critically, to investigate and interrogate, to question and contemplate. Books are a great start: educate yourself, read something that you'd normally not pick up. But they're not enough. Get out, talk to new people, talk about the hard stuff, the stuff that makes us squirm, the stuff that the tiny voice in the back of our minds shouts we shouldn't ever discuss. We have to push ourselves and challenge others too. We'll make it through.

Page 1 Books is more than just a unique bookstore: it's a community. With our knowledgeable booksellers, collection of resident authors, and loyal locals, we have built a fellowship of readers, writers, and enthusiasts. Stop by soon and discover what our local, Independent bookstore has in store for you.

Sincerely,

Independent Bookstore Day on April 29th!

Independent Bookstore Day is a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April.  In the past we've had treats, guest bookseller, raffles, and more. This year, among the giveaways are a signed copies from George R.R. Martin and James S.A. Corey!

Independent bookstores are not just stores, they're community centers and local anchors run by passionate readers. They are entire universes of ideas that contain the possibility of real serendipity. They are lively performance spaces and quiet places where aimless perusal is a day well spent.

In a world of tweets and algorithms and pageless digital downloads, bookstores are not a dying anachronism.  They are living, breathing organisms that continue to grow and expand. In fact, there are more of them this year than there were last year. And they are at your service.

Authors: if you're interested in being a Guest Bookseller this year, please contact Craig (events@page1book.com) ASAP.
