You are invited to sit as a Judge for
The 45th Annual Mackenzie Hughes LLP, Edmund H. Lewis, Appellate Advocacy Competition

On behalf of the Syracuse University College of Law Moot Court Honor Society, I invite you to sit as a Judge during the Preliminary and/or Quarterfinal rounds of the 45th Annual Mackenzie Hughes LLP, Edmund H. Lewis, Appellate Advocacy Competition. This prestigious competition is an integral part of the College of Law's advocacy program.

The Mackenzie Hughes Competition is an intra-school appellate competition for second and third-year law students. Students compete in two-person teams for this competition.  The teams write a 20-30-page brief on two constitutional issues and then argue their case to an appellate style bench. The Moot Court Honor Society would be honored if you would support the College of Law's oral advocacy and negotiation program by participating as part of an appellate bench during this competition.

All competition rounds will be held at Dineen Hall, the new College of Law building. Judges can earn one (1) CLE credit hour for each 50 minutes of participation in our law school competition in the area of skills, practice management and /or areas of professional practice.  Each judging panel of the competition will sit for two appellate arguments starting at 5:45pm.

If you are unable to participate on the dates listed on the link above, but still wish to assist in the competition, we are also searching for practitioners to grade competitor's briefs.

A confirmation email will be sent to you upon recognition of your willingness to participate.

Thank you for considering this invitation, and please feel free to contact the competition directors  David Katz and Christopher Folk if you have any questions.

Best Regards,

Robert J. Marks
