Our District Superintendent recently reported that volunteers at the district training event on February 12th packed 285,120 meals that have just been shipped to Haiti.  Our in-country ministry partner, Cross International, will be distributing the meals to those most in need...
 
SAGES News

Our SAGES had a wonderful trip to Readyville Mill on Friday, March 17, for lunch and fellowship.   Thanks to Rev. Martha Touchton for serving as our chauffeur.

Wednesday Night Together

Wednesday Night Together continues this week. Dinner cost is $6.00/adult, $2.00/children 10 and under and MTSU students, $20.00/families (up to 6 people).   CLICK HERE to see our weekly menus.  Be sure to make your meal reservation by noon on Monday.

Youth News
We have new SMALL classes starting after spring break. April 2 begins our #Adulting class and April 3 begins our How To Get A Job class.
 
We have had a great time with these classes and we thank all of the church members who have helped so far-Claudia Hunter, Michelle Blackwell, Mary Dicken, Kirsten Weaver, Lucy Cochran, Butler Touchton, Matt Marlatt, Matt Clarady and Jennifer Joines.
 
FusionYouth will not meet on Sunday, March 26. We will meet on April 2nd with our friends from Trinity in joining us. 

The Gospel Reading Challenge continues. To receive the daily Lenten email, you must opt-in to that email list by clicking HERE - even if you already receive the St. Mark's e-newsletter. (Be sure to check the box marked "2017 Lent Reading Program".) Take on the Gospel Reading Challenge this Lent!
 
All adults following the Lenten Gospel reading challenge are invited to participate in a Wednesday Night Together class, "Four Gospels, One Jesus" led by Rev. Martha Touchton (6:15-7:15 p.m. March 8, 15, 22, and April 5). Each evening will begin with a brief overview of one of the Gospels followed by group discussion around the daily readings.
Put God's Word in Your Heart during Lent!

The season of Lent is a wonderful time to commit scripture to memory! Sister Scripture will be in the Narthex every Sunday morning in Lent listening for the week's memory verse:
 
Sunday, March 26:  Jesus said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered, "The Messiah of God."  Luke 9:20

Parents Night Out

Do you need a night out?  We can help with that!   The youth will be sponsoring Parents Night Out on   April 21st and May 12th.  These are open to children Ages 3 months-6th grade and the time is 6:30-10:00pm 
 
Cost:  $20.00 for one child; $35.00 for two children, and $45.00 for three or more children.   The fees will be used to provide a snack and all supplies needed for the evening.  Proceeds will benefit the Youth Mission Trips.  
 
Reservations are required and can be made on a monthly basis in the church office or in your Sunday School Class.   Pick up and dismissal will be through the youth center. 
 
Parents Night Out will be staffed by youth and adults.  
Concerts at St. Mark's

You are invited to come out to the church for some great (and FREE) concerts! Both concerts will be held in the sanctuary.
 
Sunday, March 26 (3:00 p.m.) - The Dolly ProjectDr. Deanna Little presents Inspirations from Tennessee in "The Dolly Project", a unique and collaborative program featured Deanna on flute along with musical guests Gil Perl (bassoon), Todd Waldecker (clarinet), Rebecca Murphy (flutes), and Windell Little (piano). Epworth Youth ChoirThe Epworth Choir of First UMC (Cuyahoga Falls, OH) was founded in 1934 and is made up of youth grades 7-12. The choir is an award winner of the Jubilation competition for church choirs of Northeast Ohio and sings every Sunday morning for the 8:30 a.m. service at First UMC. This concert is a part of their spring tour "This is My Story, This is My Song".

April 9th is UMCOR Sunday at St. Mark's -  UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief founded in 1940, is the global humanitarian aid organization of the United Methodist Church. Read more about it HERE.

Last Call!  Spring Break at Redbird St. Mark's will be taking a group of adults and youth to Red Bird during the week of Spring Break to work on the modular house #2.  If all goes as planned, we will be working on sealing and painting the exterior of the home.  Change of dates - We leave on Monday, March 27th  and will return late on Wednesday, March 29th.  The cost is only $80.  You can get more information HERE .  Contact Beth by Wednesday, March 22nd for more details or with questions.  

Stewardship Summary As of March 12, we have received gifts of $220,997. Based on the past giving trends, our anticipated goal is to reach 22% of the annual operational need or $294,917 by the end of March.  Thank you for supporting the ministries of St. Mark's!

Recreation News - The  St. Mark's Golf Tournament will be held May 6, with a 1:00 p.m. tee time. Cost is $55 to play.  Sign up on the bulletin board outside the Banquet Room.
