Kindergarten and first grade students have celebrated 100 days of school. It's Science Fair season. Spring sports are starting. Thank you to all who attended our community forum last week.

Celebrating Presidents Day 

Second graders heard stories of grit and the power of following one's dreams in programs about Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and others.

Lincoln educator Lou Del Bianco visited Meadow Pond Elementary School and Katonah Elementary School with a message of perseverance. MORE. Jonathan Sprout inspired Increase Miller Elementary second graders with songs and stories of American heroes. MORE. 

Math, Anime, Music & More

John Jay Middle School has more than twenty clubs, with over 400 participants! These include enrichment clubs, performance clubs, competition clubs, service clubs and leadership clubs.

Holocaust Survivor To Visit 

Mrs. Judith Altman, a Holocaust survivor, will tell her story to students at John Jay High School on February 23 and 24.

Her two biggest messages: "Learn all you can because no one can take it away from you," and "If you see any injustice in the world, stand up. Don't just say it doesn't concern me."

This presentation was set up by the student leaders of John Jay High School Campus Congress. 

John Jay at Berklee Festival

Congratulations to all who participated in the High School Jazz Festival at Berklee College of Music. 

JJHS J azz Trio placed second and Vocal Jazz placed 5th (watch them here)

Neal LaPolla, a bass player, and Oden Scherer, a guitarist, received awards as superior musicians. Sarah Richman was awarded the Judges Choice Award for her vocal jazz performance. 

Harlem Wizards at JJHS

Support athletics at John Jay and have fun at the Harlem Wizards vs. KLSD teachers and principals game on Saturday, March 4, at 2:00 p.m. at John Jay High School. Tickets are $20 and available here. 

The game is a fundraiser for John Jay Boosters Club, a parent-run initiative which supports KLSD athletic programs and students. MORE.
