  • Did you know that over 250 alumni are signed up to assist with the alumni admissions program and each fall and spring they send over 1,000 letters to students who have applied and been accepted to SHIP but have not yet confirmed their acceptance?
  • Did you know volunteers also assist with high school career fairs in the fall and send over 1,000 "Welcome to the family" notecards in March to students who have confirmed that they will be coming to SHIP the falling Fall?

Break the Mold- Diversifying Your Experience: 
Finding a career no longer means staying with the same company until retirement. There is a plethora of opportunities for young professionals to grow and diversify their experiences. Learn how to explore your interests and find internships in fields you may not have considered before. Break the mold and stand out to employers by gaining knowledge and skills in areas outside your comfort zone. Don't Sell Yourself Short - Understanding Your Skill Set Job searching can be very overwhelming and while job searching you may pass up applying for positions because you do not feel as if you are qualified yet. Join us to learn how to review job postings and their requirements to assess the skills you have and learn how they transfer to other types of positions . Tailoring your resume to specific job postings and knowing how to sell your skills will ensure you don't sell yourself short in the application process. Flashback: A Letter to Myself as a SU Senior: 
Taking a moment to look back on how far you have come can instill pride in yourself and help you realize things you could have done differently. Join Shippensburg University alumni in a flashback to hear what they wish they knew as students entering the workforce and what they may have done differently if they had the chance. Learn what to expect in your first experiences as young adults and what responsibilities you may take on. Do You Fit the Requirements?: 
Navigating the application process once you find a position to apply for can be difficult, especially when most companies have their own way of reviewing applications, interviewing, and hiring. Attend this session to learn the ins and outs of resume building, understand how to interpret job descriptions, what to do when a company extends an offer, and how to handle rejection if you don't fit the requirements. From Student to Employee - Transitioning from College to Your First Job:  Transitioning from student to employee is exciting, but can also induce a bit of anxiety. The mindsets of a student and an employee are completely different and learning how to make changes in response to expectations can be difficult. Attend this session to learn how to make the process as smooth as possible and the procedures for patiently working your way up in the company. Seal the Deal- Making Connections to Land the Job Offer: 
First impressions are everything - they set the tone for future encounters and are nearly impossible to reverse or undo. How do you manage your persona and make the connection?
