Investment Forum, 29 March

The US-Philippines Society shares with you this invitation from
the  Embassy of the Philippines.

The Embassy of the Philippines is pleased to invite you to an Investment Forum at the Romulo Hall of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines on Wednesday, 29 March 2017, from 10.00 - 11.30 am.

The Keynote Speakers will be Ms. Charito Plaza, Director General of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and Governor Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). There will also be a brief presentation by the Executive Director of the ARMM Regional Economic Zone Authority.

PEZA was created to help promote investments in the export-oriented manufacturing industry, particularly those locating in PEZA economic zones. It also assists investors who locate in service facilities inside selected areas in the country (areas are called PEZA Special Economic Zones), which are usually business process management and knowledge process management firms. Other special economic zones cater to tourism, medical tourism, logistics and warehousing services. PEZA operates over 300 economic zones throughout the Philippines, including those in central business districts, next-wave cities, and IT-parks or buildings.

The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is an autonomous region of the Philippines, located in the Mindanao island group of the Philippines, that consists of five predominantly Muslim provinces: Basilan (except Isabela City), Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. It is the only region that has its own government. The region's de facto seat of government is Cotabato City, although this self-governing city is outside of its jurisdiction.

In line with the Philippine Government's investment priorities, including in infrastructure, manufacturing resurgence, rural productivity, and the development of Mindanao, the Embassy is pleased to be able to host officials from two of the key agencies in this regard. The Forum will be an opportunity to discover the possibilities and incentives for developing or locating in PEZA's world-class, ready-to-occupy, environment-friendly, secured and competitively priced Economic Zones. On the other hand, ARMM officials will be able share recent developments with regard to its economic development programs and initiatives, such as in the MSME sector, agro-industry, tourism, trading, halal investment, and Islamic financing. Linkages to the greater BIMP-EAGA region will also be discussed.

Please kindly RSVP your attendance to [email protected] no later than Monday, 27 March. And please feel free to inform other colleagues about this event.
