Warrant articles propose changes to ID2 zoning at River Road and Dascomb Road
Two private warrant articles for this spring's Andover Town Meeting have been filed proposing zoning changes to the ID2 districts at River Road and Dascomb Road. The first article proposed by Steve Stapinski from Merrimack Engineering seeks to amend the original ID2 zoning to allow residential development within the same size building and a drive-through restaurant (whose primary item for sale is coffee). A separate warrant article by Merrimack Valley developer Sal Lupoli seeks to develop a new zoning district (ID3) that will allow a small hotel, retail, residential, and commercial uses for a proposed "lifestyle" development on Dascomb Road at the interchange with I-93. Recently, the MBTA considered balancing their estimated $42M budget deficit by eliminating weekend commuter rail service for a year. The MBTA currently subsidizes commuter rail service on average $5 per ride on during the weekdays and $34-$100 per ride on the weekends. Given the state of the MBTA budget if service is not eliminated as initially discussed, cuts in service may be inevitable.
More Progress at the Methuen/I-93 Interchange
Throughout the winter months, construction crews have continued to make progress at the intersection of I-93 and Routes 110 and 113 in Methuen. Paving on the new I-93 southbound ramp has begun and crews are hitting milestones ahead of schedule. Stay updated on all of the construction involving this project, which is set to conclude in early 2018.
