New School Name Announcement Tomorrow
Watch for a special announcement this Friday, March 31st as the name for the newly unified Duluth Catholic School is announced. The new name which has been selected by Bishop Sirba from a field of over 20 suggestions will be shared via this weekly newsletter, a special school announcement, and at the Duluth area parish Masses over this weekend.
A Parent's Mission Moment
"A few weeks ago, one of our school families shared with me their concern about affording a Catholic school education for their 3 children. Over the past 8 years, my wife Katie and I have walked through similar reflections as we started with one child and now have four children in our Catholic school. I shared that we consider our financial gifts such as tuition to be part of our stewardship (or tithe). This means we strive to give 10 percent of our family's gross income to support the needs of our community, which includes supporting the mission of our Catholic school. We know that our community of Catholic parishes and donors reduce the cost of education by about 50 percent, and we have also been blessed to receive additional financial support from our school community to help cover the necessary costs of education. 

This is where Community Supported Scholarships are intended to help. We are going to start our application this week and I encourage you to do the same. Our Duluth Catholic principals are ready to guide you through the process. You are a gift to the Duluth Catholic School community and our family is blessed to be part of it."

Community Support Scholarships Available
Making Catholic education viable and affordable is a foundational element of the new Duluth Catholic School. Community Support Scholarships (formerly referred to as tuition assistance) will continue to support families in various financial circumstances. The application process is available here and requires 2016 tax information. Deadline for applications is May 1st. Any of the campus principals are happy to assist families with questions or further details.
Question & Answer Session Highlights
At the recent Open House events held at the Holy Rosary and St. John's campuses parents and families had an opportunity to participate in a question and answer session. This was a great opportunity for the principals and members of the Duluth Catholic School Board to exchange information about the planning completed and underway as the great work of the new school continues. Read FAQs here.
St. Michael's Tradition Celebrates 31 Years
Please join St. Michael's Lakeside School in celebrating a beloved tradition this April. Each year since 1986 an all-school play featuring students in kindergarten-grade 5 has been produced with the energy, enthusiasm, and talent of students, teachers, and parent volunteers. The inaguaral performance featured the famous "Wizard of Oz" and the show has gone on since then.  
 
St. Michael's 31st annual spring musical will take the stage for two shows on April 21-22. This year's presentation is "The Adventures of Superstan." Watch as Stanley fights to save his town, Megaville, from the evil Candy King. Will he be able to defeat the baddies and free the citizens of Megaville from their hypnotic fate? Performances are April 21st at 6:30 pm and April 22nd at 12:00 pm. A free will offering at the door helps defray costs. The public is warmly invited.
Story Time Added To Welcome Wednesdays 
A new opportunity for preschoolers is being offered at the Holy Rosary campus on Wednesdays, starting April 12th. A story time will be offered from 8:00-8:30 am in the school library. This is a casual, drop in event. All campuses are offering tours and visits during the school day each Wedne sday morning.
