Voices in Unity
April 2017
News from Our Unity Board of Trustees

On Sunday, March 5th, Rev. Phil presented an overview of our 'Fresh Start' process and what 'Intentional Transitional Ministry' and 'Ministerial Leadership Change' will involve. We have done the first step: We have contracted with Rev. Phil to guide and support us!

In April, we will focus on the messages in 'I of the Storm' and the importance of social dynamics [talk to each other not about each other; spiritual-maturity vs. Ego].

In May, we will explore Service as Spiritual Growth as well as Board and Leadership so that we will understand/value leadership changes within each Team as well as within the congregation.

In June, we will learn the importance of HOPCOF (Honoring Our Past, Creating Our Future).

There will be a break in July, then in August, he will guide us in designing updated mission and vision statements that represent our core values and are reflective of mission-focused and whole-systems approach and the thriving ministries model vs. minister-centric, top-down control. Our purpose will be "creating a foundation for the next phase of the ministerial experience, one that holds a clear purpose that supports the creation of a strong spiritual community and leadership steeped in ownership".

Rev. Phil also reminded us of the '8 Stages of Tran
sition in a Ministry' [Termination; Direction-Finding; Self-Study; Search for a new minister; Decisions; Negotiations; Installation; Start-up], and gave us a brief insight into what is involved in each stage.

He concluded by having us recite, as a congregation, the affirmation "God's perfect plan of Good is now established for Unity Christ Center, and I see it". This will be an exciting journey as we discover who we have come here to be now.
