BEING MIGHTY IN GOD
II Chronicles 27: 6 - "So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God."
YOU MUST DESIRE TO BE MIGHTY
This single verse contains the secret of becoming mighty and great before God. As believers in Christ, we are given a great truth in this verse. Only you can choose to be mighty before God. No one else can prepare your ways for you.
PREPARING YOUR WAYS BEFORE THE LORD
Preparing your ways before the Lord your God revolves around the idea of
priorities. Jotham was able to become mighty before God because he ordered his priorities right. Jotham was able to stand as a shining light against a flood of wrong because of one factor - he prepared his ways (his priorities) before the Lord his God. As Christians, all of us struggle with the many different aspects of life and the proper order that God would have. Is there any one priority that should be placed above all others? God instructed the king to make his own copy of the law and read it day and night. As the king studied the Word, all priorities fell into place. All his ways lined up under God's direction.
BECOMING MIGHTY BEFORE GOD
I challenge you to be like Jotham. The starting point for you is the same one as Jotham's. You must make God's Word priority number one in your life. Joshua, the disciple of Moses, learned the secret of becoming mighty before God. Joshua 1:8 - "
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." The choice is yours. The starting point is making a quality decision to let God's Word be priority number one in your life.

Our Easter Cantata this year is entitled "Worthy is the Lamb" We are holding rehearsals every Sunday after services. Everyone is welcome to join us. The songs are easy to learn and sing.
Joe and Beth Sebastian will once again be leading us in a Seder Supper Celebration on Maundy Thursday, April 13. This reenactment of the same supper Jesus had with his disciples is filled with reach and meaningful symbolism. It is very family friendly atmosphere - children are welcome to attend. Ongoing Discipleship Opportunities
We have several ongoing discipleship opportunities.
We encourage you to join us for fellowship and learning!
Sunday School Class: (Sunday at 9 am). Join us in the education wing classroom for adult Sunday School.
Men's Bible Study: (Wednesday at 6:30 pm). The men meet in the classroom of the education wing building for a deeper study of the Sunday sermon with Pastor Hardwick. Contact Luis Carrazana at 434-989-8862 for more information.

Youth and Young Adults (ages 12-18)
As Paul and his companions have been traveling across the Mediterranean, the youth group has been following their journey. Not only have we seen the power of God in the scriptures, but we have been discussing and praying that the power of God's Spirit will continue to work in us! This month we will be returning from Watermarks Camp and seeking to take what we have been challenged with by Pastor Randy Cooksey and apply that to our lives. We have begun singing worship songs at Recharge and challenging each other to claim a faith in Christ as our own. The group is excited to grow and reach out to the community. Come attend Recharge on Sunday evenings at the church from 5 pm to 7 pm for supper, games, songs and Bible study.

Parents' Morning Out: April 15, 2017

Yard and Bake Sale - April 22 for Mission Trip
New and gently used items are needed for the yard sale to be held on Saturday, April 22, from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, to raise money for the Mission Trip in this summer. Food items will also be offered for sale so dust off your favorite recipes! We are hoping that each person can provide at least one, if not two or three, baked items. Suggested items are cakes, brownies, pies, cookies, muffins. Please have them to the church by Friday, April 21, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. Vacation Bible School
VBS will be held Sunday through Friday, June 11-16, 2017. The theme this year is Galactic Starveyors - Discovering the God of the Universe. Volunteers are needed. Please see Karren Elias or Kathy Gilliland for more information.
The Ambassadors Ministry
Please continue to pray for and support our students,missionaries, and military members while they are geographically away from Hillsboro. At the end of March, cards were sent to each of them, encouraging them and reminding them that they each are being prayed for by name.
The last week of April, our ministry will be asking for donations of cookies and notes from the Hillsboro family. The students will receive these just in time for final exams.
