Dear Friends,

The start of 2017 has been a very exciting time for StolenYouth. Every day, we work tirelessly to raise awareness about child trafficking in our community. We have seen real success in disrupting the marketplace and we are certain that by working together, we can end the commercial sexual exploitation of children.

To this end, we are happy to share with you the latest StolenYouth newsletter. StolenYouth is welcoming a new Executive Director, a new Board Member, and continues to be involved in this fight on the local and national levels, as you will see in the stories below. As always, thank you for your continued support of StolenYouth. We could not do this important work without you!

Warmly,
StolenYouth
Announcing New Executive Director
StolenYouth is thrilled to announce that Nicole DeCario has joined the fight against child trafficking as Executive Director.

With a proven background as a non-profit leader, Nicole joins at a critical time for our coalition. Throughout her career, Nicole has worked to build and empower teams to coalesce around shared goals to achieve the greatest impact.

Nicole will begin her role as Executive Director for StolenYouth in April. We are so excited to work with her and can't wait for you to meet her!

In Her Own Words,
A Note From Nicole

Hello StolenYouth Community!

My name is Nicole DeCario, and it is a privilege to introduce myself to you as the first Executive Director of StolenYouth. I look forward to officially joining the team on April 17th and jumping right in as we prepare for our annual "Not On Our Watch" Luncheon on April 26th. I hope to meet you there in person.

I've spent the past six years with the Bezos Family Foundation, most recently as the Managing Director of Operations and Special Projects. In this role, I led the day-to-day operations for the 26-person team and collaborated with the founders to advance the organization's overall strategic direction. I also learned how to build a national initiative from scratch. I discovered that being bold is a key ingredient in the recipe for success. I witnessed deeper impact by bringing people from competing sectors together around a common cause. And, perhaps most importantly, I learned that challenges are really just opportunities in disguise.

I decided to join StolenYouth because children are our most valuable assets and all children deserve their basic human rights to be upheld. The underlying causes that enable the sexual exploitation of children are many and deep, and the fight to ensure that all children are safe from this abuse is not easily won. But there is no worthier fight than protecting our children.

It is an honor to join this coalition, and I look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with you on this journey.

Onward!

TownHall Recap

Thank you to everyone who supported our annual Town Hall event in January.  Our speakers did a wonderful job of presenting their views on boys as victims of trafficking and the audience engaged in an important conversation about toxic masculinity. If you'd like to read more, here's an article that Real Change published about the event.
