Register to Vote and for Mail Ballot Applications Today
CCISD will hold a school board and bond election on Saturday, May 6, 2017, and is encouraging community members to register to vote. The last day to register will be April 6, 2017.

Bond 2017 Would Update Digital Surveillance and Intrusion Detection Equipment
If the $487 million bond passes, $8.1 million will be devoted to new and enhanced safety and security measures district-wide.

Playground Safety to be Addressed by CCISD Bond 2017 Referendum
If the bond were to pass, the district would fund $2.65 million in playground equipment replacement. Of that, $1.5 million would be allotted for adding new playgrounds and $1.15 million would be put toward making critical repairs.

CCISD Tax Rate & Debt Information
CCISD is the 28th largest district based on student enrollment and ranks 25th based on authorized and issued debt. This 25th ranking also includes financial projections if the $487 million CCISD bond is approved by voters on May 6, 2017.

Bond 2017 Referendum Would Replace 75 Buses
If voters approve the bond proposal in May, replacing 75 buses with more than 200,000 miles would be a small portion of the $20.8 million in safety improvements district officials are planning to make.

Item of Interest
The debt service fund has accumulated an excess fund balance of $12 million. The Board of Trustees approved a resolution to reduce the district's debt through defeasment, or commonly known as paying off debt early, with available cash. The district's bond counsel says this is something that very few school districts have ever done in Texas. "In 25 years, I have never done this size of defeasement for a school district," said Ryan O'Hara, Senior Vice President of Hutchinson, Shockey, Erly & Company.

Art students across Clear Creek ISD were recognized for their artistic abilities. The students were honored for their achievements in the Texas Capitol Art Contest, Scholastic Art, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

CCISD JOB FAIR THIS SATURDAY
|
Clear Creek ISD will host a district-wide job fair for certified teacher and auxiliary positions this Satruday, April 1, at Clear Springs High School (501 Palomino Lane, League City, TX 77573). Certified positions will meet from 9-11 a.m. and auxiliary positions will meet from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
The purpose of this event is to develop a pool of qualified candidates for certified and auxiliary positions. Interviews will not be conducted, but you will have an opportunity to meet/greet department leaders and principals.

SCIENCE EXTRAVAGANZA 2017
|
Excitement and curiosity filled the air during the 4th annual Science Extravaganza, presented by Clear Creek ISD and Space Center Houston. A crowd of more than 2,000 intermediate school students and their families enjoyed a night of experimentation and exploration while touring certain parts of the non-profit destination and Smithsonian Affiliate.
This free event, formerly known as Science Night, was held at Space Center Houston for the second year, which serves as a most fitting backdrop for nearly 30 exhibitors from across the region, live animals and hands-on activities contributed by each CCISD intermediate school. In an effort to spark student interest in not only STEM, but also in the annual CCISD Science and Engineering Fair, four students presented their winning science fair projects from this year during a Student Showcase, sponsored by SAIC, at the event.
With the help of more than 200 volunteers and sponsorships from ExxonMobil, San Jacinto College, Space Center Houston, Jacobs Engineering and SAIC, the event continues to grow into a much-anticipated family tradition that exemplifies the spirit of learning, creativity and innovation.

TASB VIDEO CONTEST WINNER
|
League City Intermediate in Clear Creek ISD was announced as one of six winners in the student video contest sponsored by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). These videos illustrate the true value of public education and emphasize the many positive aspects of our state's public schools.
The contest was open to all Texas elementary and secondary public school students. A second-place prize of $2,500 will be presented to League City Intermediate.

ACE PROGRAM AT CLEAR CREEK INT.

Students at Clear Creek Intermediate don't wait for the start of school to start learning and they don't stop with the sound of the bell at the end of each school day. That's because, before school each day, from 7:45-8:45 a.m. and after school from 4-6 p.m., four days a week, is the Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) Program. This program has been made possible thanks to a grant from the Harris County Department of Education that the school was awarded in August.
This is the first year for Clear Creek Intermediate to have the ACE Program, which began September 6 and at one point had more than 200 enrollees, said Heidi Cisneros, the ACE program coordinator at Clear Creek Intermediate.
Today, the program which started with only eight students, now averages about 40 to 60 students a day who all take part in a variety of different hands-on enrichment activities that are designed to reinforce and complement each students' academic programs.
