Pasadena Unified Teachers to be Trained on
Latest 3D Printer Technology

PASADENA, CA - With every school in the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) receiving a 3D printer in the 2014-2015 school year, the Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) and PUSD are presenting a day-long teacher training on the use of these cutting edge devices Wednesday, August 13 at Marshall Fundamental High School. The day will be capped with a spirited competition amongst the teachers to showcase their innovative design lessons.

Access to 3D printing technology, or desktop fabrication, helps PUSD schools to become 21st century teaching environments with the ability to teach the skills that students are going to need to be successful in the future. The New Media Consortium (a global advisory board of education thought leaders) and the IEEE identified teaching 3D printing in schools as "one of the top technologies, trends, and challenges that will impact STEM+ education over the next five years."

This district-wide project was prompted by a generous donor who wanted PUSD students to be given the opportunity to get their hands on next-gen technology and learn the creativity and collaboration skills needed for the jobs of tomorrow. PUSD, with the continuing support of PEF, has embraced this new technology that provides students with 21st century learning experiences.

Media are invited to observe our teacher training in action and learn more about 3D printing in the classrooms.
