Help Spring Clean Your parks on April 1

No fooling around on this April Fools' Day. Spend it giving a local waterway park a clean bill of health.

Be a part of Watershed Clean-Up Day from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Watershed Clean-Up Day is an annual spring community effort to clear earth's arteries. Help remove bottles, cans, tires, and other carelessly dumped debris from local streams. It's an excellent opportunity for families, individuals, service groups and students to pitch in and keep our Fairfax County parks clean.

Matching Contributions

Many civic minded employers in the Greater Washington DC community know that nonprofit organizations play a key role in maintaining and improving local communities. These companies know that by making a corporate matching contribution, that they are making an impact. There are wide variations in the matching gift programs.  Some companies only match donations of educational institutions. Others will match a wide range of donations made to nonprofit organizations.

Some companies will only match monetary contributions, others will only make contributions for volunteer time, and other companies will contribute to both monetary contributions and volunteer hour.

The following list includes employers that are likely to match employee donations made to the Fairfax County Park Foundation. If your employer is not listed, please consider contacting your human resources to see what matching contributions are available.

In recent years the Park Foundation has benefited from matching gifts from Home Depot, Northrop Grumman, Verizon, HP, and IBM.  In 2017 the Park Foundation is promoting matching contributions.

If you or a family member works for any of the below companies and donate to the Park Foundation, please submit the necessary paperwork for a matching gift.

Lee District Park Carousel Under Construction

A $10,000 donation to the Park Foundation will allow a donor to name and adopt one of these beautiful animals.

If you have questions about the adoption process and benefits please call Margaret Thaxton, Director of Development, Park Foundation at 703-324-8532 or send her an e-mail at Margaret.Thaxton@fairfaxcounty.gov

If desired, a nameplate listing the animal's 'name' and donor name will be affixed below the carousel animal to recognize this adoption.

Donors will also be invited to take a spin on the inaugural ride at the ceremonial opening of this special feature that will be held this summer!
