Bar Mitzvah Tzedakah project helps feed kids in the community...

13-year-old Bryce Green learned about our Heldman Family Food Pantry when he was 7, and he turned that interest into a Bar Mitzvah project collecting money and kid-friendly food to feed more kids from families in need.

            

Help vulnerable families celebrate Passover and enjoy a Seder meal...
 
Donations are still being accepted to purchase food for Passover as well as food to stock the Jewish Family Service Heldman Family Food Pantry shelves throughout the year.


 

New program helps the community understand, share, and navigate complex situations... 

The Jewish community is invited to participate in LifeLabs, a program which offers free educational discussions covering specific topics such as interfaith couples, single parenting, bereavement, and trauma.
 
Gail Ziegler honored by Council on Aging...
Jewish Family Service is proud to announce that Gail Ziegler, LISW-S, Senior Manager of Jewish Family Service Center for Holocaust Survivors, was presented with the Outstanding Direct Service Provider Award by Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio (COA).
  
She received the award Wednesday, March 15, 2017 during the COA's Annual Meeting, honoring her strong commitment to enhancing Holocaust survivors' quality of life and independence.
Jewish Family Service Offers Speakers and Support for Trauma Survivors...
Susan Shorr, Sharon Gold-Steinberg, and Alyce Ellison
Thank you to our co-chairs Susan Shorr and Alyce Ellison for helping make the Jewish Family Service 13th annual Miriam O. Smith Educational Series professional development workshop a success!

Confronting Shame & Self-Loathing: Pathways to Healing, was led by expert Sharon Gold-Steinberg and focused extensively on the significant role of shame in trauma survivors.
 
Additionally, Jewish Family Service brought in Mary Vicario, LPCC-S and her colleague Sarah Buffie to teach the public how to recognize trauma symptoms in family members and themselves, and how to begin the healing process.

Remke Markets collecting $ for Passover...
Remke Markets, at their Hyde Park location, is accepting cash donations for Dr. Samuel S. Rockwern Passover Delivery of Jewish Family Service now through April 23. Present a tear-off slip in denominations of $5, $10, and $20  (available on displays in the kosher food department and at check-out) to the cashier who will add the donation to your purchase.
