PASADENA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
RECEIVES A $75,000 GRANT FROM S. MARK TAPER FOUNDATION

Grant will support five Pasadena Unified School District
Healthy Start Family Centers

PASADENA, CA - Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) is pleased to announce it has received a $75,000 grant from the S. Mark Taper Foundation. These funds will support the five Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Healthy Start Family Centers located at Madison, Jackson, and Cleveland Elementary Schools, Eliot Middle School, and the Education Center.

The grant will make it possible for the staff of the Centers to provide free comprehensive health services to students and their families, especially those who lack access to health care. These services include screenings, examinations, immunizations, counseling, nutrition workshops, assistance with health insurance enrollment, case management, and referrals to other agencies. Grants like these allow PEF to support, enhance and supplement the programs, initiatives and priorities of the PUSD.

"We are thankful to the S. Mark Taper Foundation for their generous grant to PEF," said Patrick Conyers, PEF Executive Director. "The PUSD Healthy Start Family Centers provide critical support for families and students in our community. This grant is significantly important for the ongoing work of these vital centers."

The S. Mark Taper Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. PEF is honored to be one of the recipients.
