A Note From Pastor Linda

I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. (Ephesians 1.16)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ~

WOW- what a week we have had!!

We continue in the Season of Lent- worshiping on Wednesdays at 12noon and 6pm, Conversations with God: The Lord's Prayer. We share table fellowship around a simple meal of soup and sandwiches.
Our Sunday worship focus is The Journey of Stones- as each week we take a stone and then consider dropping it at the cross, freeing us, preparing us for Holy Week and Easter morning!
In the midst of this, we are preparing for the Lakes Area Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) MobilePack- both preparing our building, recruiting volunteers and continuing to raise funds.
On Sunday evening we partnered with Stella's for a Beer & Hymns Sing- a spirited sing-a-long! - a FUNdraiser for the Lakes Area FMSC MobilePack. Mark Crea, CEO from FMSC spoke about the need for food- and how FMSC food travels in miraculous ways around the world. He also said that they could not do it without partnerships like ours- both funding and volunteering. Because of you we raised close to $5000 for FMSC- (nearly $500 was donated because we DID NOT sing On Eagle's Wings!) and created a NEW awareness about the Lakes Area FMSC MobilePack. Your generosity has been AMAZING!!

This community is THRIVING- because of you!- so it is time to say THANK YOU- for your generosity of time and talent and resources- for your prayers ad for your continued commitment to your church family. Let me share with you a little secret about GENEROSITY- one that I have learned from YOU. Generosity is not the fruit of success or happiness or security. It is, instead, the SOURCE of all these things!! Seth Godin puts it this way:

Here is the conventional wisdom: Success makes you happy. Happiness permits you to be generous. In fact, it actually works like this: Generosity makes you happy. Happy people are more likely to be successful.

This is Kingdom of God living- and together we are making a difference and so I most certainly do give thanks for each of you-as I remember you in my prayers.

Lent Wednesday Services - 12pm & 6pm Services

March 1 - April 5

Mid-Week Lent Worship Services continue through April 5. We will focus our attention on Conversations With God: The Lord's Prayer. Most know it by heart, but do you really know what you are asking for in this mighty prayer that Jesus taught? Each week we will explore the Lord's Prayer to consider what it means in our daily lives. There is a service at noon, which is followed by a lunch and a service at 6pm with dinner from 5-6pm and education will follow each service on March 15, 22, 29 and April 5.

Easter Flower Orders

Orders Due Sunday, April 2, 2017

We are now collecting Easter Flower Orders! You may order your choice of Asiatic Lilies, Calla Lilies, Easter Lilies (shown here), Gerbera Daisies and Hydrangeas, all in your choice of size and color. Once you order them, you can pick them up after the 10:30am service on Easter Sunday. You can order them online here, or by filling out a purple sheet in your bulletin on Sunday morning. Senior Adult Ministry (SAM)

April 5, 2017

SAM will meet on Wednesday, April 4th for the 12pm, noon Lenten service at church and lunch, instead of meeting on Thursday April 5th.

We will be back to our regular SAM lunch schedule in May (first Thursday of the month). I will make a reservation and let you all know where our May lunch will be. If you have any questions, please contact Lynda Olson at [email protected].

Palm Sunday Youth Fundraising Breakfast

Saturday, April 8 and Sunday, April 9, 2017

Come join the youth for breakfast on Palm Sunday! From 8am to 12pm the Youth will be serving breakfast in the Garden Chapel! All proceeds will be going toward Youth Ministries! We are still looking for people to help us prep on Saturday or Sunday morning, people that are willing to donate a breakfast item, people that are willing to serve food and people that are willing to clean up after the breakfast. If you are interested in helping in any of these ways, please contact Pastor Jen.

Sunshine Preschool Easter Bunny Breakfast

Saturday, April 8

On Saturday, April 8 from 9am to 11:30am Sunshine Preschool will be having an all-you-can-eat Pancake breakfast fundraiser. Tickets are $6 per person and include an Easter Egg hunt for those 10 years of age and younger. There are games, the Easter Bunny, Silent Auction, a raffle, face painting, a bounce house and prizes.

Palm Sunday Service - If Stones Could Talk

Sunday, April 9

April 9 at 9:00am and 10:30am in the Great Hall and will include special music, such as the choir, handbell choir and children's choir! If your child is interested in being a part of the Children's Choir, rehearsals will be every Wednesday night at 6:30 PM. A worship drama with a part for everyone! Yogadevotion

Registration Ends April 9, 2017

Yogadevotion, now in its 12 ^th year in Forest Lake, is beginning its final session of the spring on Saturday, April 15 ^th, 2017, at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 9300 Scandia Trail North, Forest Lake.

Yogadevotion promotes strength, flexibility and peace in body, mind and spirit through weekly Saturday morning devotional sessions. Carrin Mahmood, certified and experienced Yoga devotional instructor for over 10 years, leads the hour-long sessions.

Women and men of all ages are welcome to participate and enjoy this meditation time, while experiencing the benefits of yoga. No previous experience is needed with basic yoga being taught.

The six (6) week session will run through Saturday, May 20^th. Cost is $48 and classes will be held in the Lakeside Room (upper level) at Hosanna, beginning at 9 am and ending at 10 am. Please enter through the north doors. Make up sessions are available at various times and locations throughout the north metro area.

The Last Supper Reenactment

April 11-13, 2017

Tuesday, April 11 through Thursday, April 13 we will be having the 29th Annual Last Supper Reenactment in the Garden Chapel at 7:30pm. The rituals and blessings of a Passover Feast celebrating the Israelites' exodus from Egyptian slavery had been fixed for generations. This night would be different. Jesus added new language about love, betrayal, forgiveness and remembrance - A New Testament. Nothing would ever be the same. Good Friday Service

Hosanna Men's Softball Team

Begins End of April

Registration is beginning for the Men's Softball Team! They play on Sunday nights representing Hosanna! It's a great way to get involved and we are looking for men of all ages! If you are interested, please contact Nick Kelley at [email protected].

Bring your own sack lunch!

Vacation Bible School in Partnership with Luther Crest Bible Camp

July 17 - 20, 2017

Grades K-6 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION: $70, After June 1st Cost: $75*

PRESCHOOL VBS- A perfect introduction to VBS. This program is perfect for preschoolers who aren't quite ready of for the full-day experience yet. Chocked full of songs, games, arts & crafts and so much more, VBS is a chance for our younger students to explore the Bible in a safe, fun environment.

ALL DAY VBS- is a Christ-centered experience for those who have finished Kindergarten through Sixth Grade bringing a taste of camping ministry to campers in a familiar setting. VBS is designed to introduce a Bible Camp experience to students without being away from home at night. It is a unique blend of Outdoor Ministry and Congregational Ministry. The Luther Crest Day Camp Staff bring their own enthusiasm, leadership, and teaching styles to Hosanna each day. *Scholarships available upon request.

Hospitality Team

We are currently looking for people that would be willing and excited to join a Hospitality Team! This would be a fabulous opportunity to get involved monthly with your church and to have something to look forward to with your entire family! If you are interested, please contact Kelsey here.

Event Planning Team

We are in need of people to help us with events! Kelsey Hane is currently creating a team that can help coordinate weddings, parties and other events that use our church facilities, in hopes of making this a more event-friendly space. Kitchen Compost Volunteer

The Green Earth Team (GET) is looking for a volunteer that is interested in taking on the composting task in the kitchen at Hosanna. This would involve supervising the intake of raw fruit and vegetable scraps/coffee/tea grounds etc. and following recommended procedure for composting. The compost could be used on church grounds or used personally by volunteer. If you are interested in this worthy task, please contact Kelsey at the front office at [email protected].
