March Recipe of the Month:

Reuben Casserole
Ingredients for 8 servings:
  • 1 loaf Rye Bread - toast lightly & cut into cubes
  • 16 oz. Sauerkraut - drained
  • 1.5 cups shredded Swiss Cheese
  • 1 cup Mayonnaise
  • 8 oz. Thousand Island Dressing
  • 2 cups cooked Corned Beef, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted

Directions: 
1. Put half the rye bread cubes into a greased 15 X 10 baking pan.
2. Top with the sauerkraut.
3. Mix the mayonnaise and Thousand Island dressing together and spoon half on top of the sauerkraut.
4. Top with 1 cup of the Swiss cheese.
5. Top with the corned beef.
6. Top with the remainder of the Mayonnaise & dressing mix.
7. Top with the rest of the bread cubes and Swiss Cheese.
8. Drizzle the melted butter over all.
9. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees F.
10. Uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes.

Spring is Grilling Time!
"Birkie Brats"

Louie's has been named the exclusive supplier of "Birkie Brats" in cooperation with the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation. Birkie Brats feature Cranberries, Blueberries, and Cheeses for a sweet combination representing the flavors of the northwoods.

While the Birkebeiner ski race was cancelled due to lack of snow, it was replaced with "Birkie Fest" on February 25 and the Birkie Brats made an appearance until they sold out! 

Birkie Brats were also served at the Fat Bike Birkie events on March 10-11. 

The Birkebeiner has evolved into much more than a ski race; it has become a year-round lifestyle with skiing, running, and biking events. Watch for Birkie Brats, crafted by Louie's Finer Meats, at future Birkie events. The brats pair great with the new "Birkie Brew-Ski" from Lucette Brewing Company of Menomonie.

Louie's Lodge has a full selection of Beer, Wine, and Liquor, including a large variety of craft beers. Running late? Call ahead and pick up your Louie's meat order at Louie's Lodge with the extended evening hours!

The Lodge offers daily wine and beer samples!
