CARE TEAM AND HELPING HANDS ASK "HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?"

The Care Team serves people in the UUC community when they encounter illness, grief, medical events, and other life issues. We all need a little help sometimes. If you find yourself needing a listening ear or a little help, please email the Care Team or leave a message on our confidential voicemail at (206) 454-7722. We are trained lay volunteers. We check for messages twice daily and keep your information confidential.

Could you use an occasional meal or ride during a difficult time? If this is what you need, email Helping Hands or leave a message at (206) 454-7722. We'll forward your request to either our rides or our meals coordinator. Each maintains a list of willing and able volunteers.

We also want to match drivers who could add a passenger (either occasionally or regularly) when driving to and from church. Please contact us if this is something you would like to do.

SOUP AND SOLIDARITY: Justice and Ministry at UUC
Wednesday, March 22, 6-8:30 p.m. in Nathan Johnson Hall

What is the role of faith right now? What are the current strengths and potential opportunities of our justice ministries at UUC? How does our Unitarian Universalism, and history as a congregation, shape the ways we are called to engage? Where are you feeling called?

Join us for our third Soup and Solidarity evening to explore what it means to engage social justice as Unitarian Universalists and as a congregation. Rev. Beth will be sharing some of her insights and vision for our social justice ministry based on her first seven months at UUC and inviting those gathered into deeper reflection about the ways faith, community, and justice intersect in our individual and communal lives. There will also be practical guidance for how to become involved and connected at UUC!

Come, awaken the spirit of community, nurture hope, and be inspired to action.

6:00-6:45 p.m.: Potluck dinner (we bring the soup and bread, you bring the sides and desserts!)

6:45-8:30 p.m.: Interactive presentation with Rev. Beth and other UUC leaders in Social Justice.

In the Spring 2017 issue of UU World, Unitarian Universalist Association President Peter Morales writes in Sanctuary and Gospel about his fear for people vilified during the last election campaign, especially undocumented Latino immigrants and Muslims. He acknowledges that when hatred is unleashed towards some, all marginalized people are at risk and urges us to remember that the human capacity for evil is real and must be resisted. In times such as these, what are we as religious people called to do, so that we may proclaim the love that guides us and be sanctuary for one another? Continue reading...
