Tomorrow: Free Movie in Hoffman Park
Lansdowne Parks and Recreation presents a free showing of The Sandlot, the classic coming-of-age baseball story set in 1960s suburbia. The movie begins at 8:30 pm but feel free to arrive early for a picnic in the park. Bring blankets and low-height chairs and enjoy an evening of entertainment under the stars!

Memorial Day 5K, Parade
While it's too late for free race shirts and early bird rates, there's still time to sign up to take part in the 10th Annual Lansdowne Memorial Day 5K. This Saturday, May 14, is the final day for online registration; day-of-race registration begins at 6:30 am. Join 300+ runners through the historic neighborhoods of Lansdowne. The USA Track and Field-certified race begins at 7:45 am on Monday, May 30, and will be followed by the Memorial Day parade beginning at 9 am.

Call for Artists - Applications Due May 15
We are now accepting artist/maker applications for the Lansdowne Arts on the Avenue Festival which will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from noon to 6 pm on Lansdowne Avenue. This event grew out of (and will now replace) the Lansdowne Arts Festival, a perennial favorite arts and music event in Lansdowne. This new and exciting outdoor arts festival is expected to draw more than 2,500 people to our historic downtown for an all-day festival of arts, crafts, music, food trucks, and more.

We are expanding not only the location of the festival, but also the look. We hope to feature some new, exciting, unique artists. The Call For Artists has just gone out and applications are due May 15th. Please share and help us really make this festival something fantastic!

Animal Friends of Lansdowne Yard Sale
Animal Friends of Lansdowne presents its annual benefit yard sale this Saturday, from 9 am to 3 pm at 33 East Greenwood Avenue. Donations of gently-used household items will be greatly appreciated and may be dropped off on the porch at the above address through tomorrow (Friday). No clothing or older televisions, please. All proceeds go to the care and feeding of rescued animals in our community. Rain date is Sunday, May 15.

Plant Exchange and Ardmore Avenue School Beautification
Dig up your hostas, daylillies, coreopsis, and other overgrown perennials to exchange them with neighbors on Sunday, May 15! This botanical bartering bonanza takes place at the Ardmore Avenue Elementary School, where leftover and donated plants will be used to spruce up the school grounds. Drop off plants from 8:30 am to 10 am; the plant exchange runs from 9 to 11 am. Volunteers are welcome to help plant perennials and clean up the school grounds from 8:30 am to 1 pm. For more information please email [email protected].
