and curator,  and Delita Pinchback Martin,
artist/entrepreneur, will be honored.
  A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the  Lester Marks  Patron of the Year Award for Philanthropy
to community leader 
Peter H. Brown .

Delita Pinchback Martin has created an original linocut titled
"The Seeker" exclusively for our anniversary.
A limited number of copies (100) have been pulled and are available for $250. Martin has been described as one
of 16 African American artists gaining national attention by the International Review of African American Art.

Recent Activities


It was standing room only when Alvia Wardlaw signed copies of her book Charles Alston" and her article in the "Thornton Dial in the 21st Century" catalogue at The Collective. We thank Dr. Wardlaw for sharing the day with us and appreciate all of her admirers who visited and recognized the contributions she has made to the art world and academia.


The Collective was chosen as a venue to visit by 
the Gates Millennium Scholars in March. Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the goal of the GMS program is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential.

Workshops and demonstrations  are offered at The Collective,
4101 San Jacinto, Suite 116, on Thursdays
from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m.


The Community Artists' Collective invites you to learn about and to
work on textiles, including quilting, knitting, crochet and embroidering.
