This Saturday -- Winter Farmers Market
The first Lansdowne Farmers Market of the 2016 calendar year is set for this Saturday, January 16, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the regular location at 30 North Lansdowne Avenue. Here's which vendors we know will be there as of this newsletter's distribution -- but we expect even more will be added by Saturday!

My House Cookies will have their usual variety of pies, quiches, cookies, and scones; Livengood Family Farm will have plenty of meats (beef, chicken, turkey and pork are in good supply), and vegetables including brussel sprouts, parsnips, celeriac, potatoes, rutabagas, turnips and maybe even spinach (if the weather cooperates). Green Zebra Farms will be on hand with kale, spinach, carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes, winter squash, and delicious tomato sauces; Kia's Cakes will be there with grab-and-go goodies and coffee; and Taste of Puebla will bring guacamole, pico de gallo, corn chips, salsa fresca, spicy red salsa and pre-packaged tamales in the chicken, pork, and vegan varieties. Also scheduled to join us are Freeland Market, Wilson's Curiously Good Foods, and Neil's Sharpening Service.

While we're at it, we'd like to extend a sincere congratulations to our friends at Livengood Family Farm for the their winning entries at this week's Pennsylvania Farm Show, where they captured the Grand Champion market basket title. Livengood also received first-place honors for sweet potatoes, leeks, celeriac, parsnips, rutabagas, collards and purple potatoes.

Outdoor Art Exhibit Coming this Spring
Lansdowne has been selected to be part of the Spring 2016 installation of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Inside Out program. The exhibit will consist of a dozen high-quality replicas of museum masterpieces installed in various outdoor locations throughout our community. Stay tuned for locations, walking tours and other events to accompany this fantastic and unique presentation of art in Lansdowne.

Author Robert L. Bingham Book Signing
This Friday, January 15, Vinyl Revival will host a meet-and-greet with Robert L. Bingham, author of Growing Up Lansdowne, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The book -- composed of 171 diverse essays and over 30 period photographs and supportive images -- is a personal and creative account of childhood and adolescence experienced in the suburb during the 1950s and 1960s. The 519-page book is available for purchase and copies will be signed by Bingham; admission is free.
