Theresa is a Lowcountry Food Bank client who knows what hunger feels like:
"I moved to Charleston a few years ago from California for a better life. Things are a bit less expensive here, but it's still tough," says Theresa. "I work full time to support my two children, who are 9 and 15 years old. We receive food stamps, but even with that and my income, we usually run out of food about two weeks into the month. Before we found the food bank, many times I'd just go hungry."
"What is not okay is for my kids to be hungry. Finding the the food bank has really helped a lot. It's a relief that I don't have to worry as much as I did before instead I can concentrate on continuing to work so that someday I can actually give my family a better life."
