Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians:
PARCC testing will begin at Prairie Grove next week. We hope to see all of our students present and well rested on testing days. The PARCC assessments are computer based and aligned to the Illinois State Learning Standards and students in grades 3-8 will take assessments in English-Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.
There are many important reasons why students should take these assessments and take them seriously, doing their best to demonstrate their current progress. Individual score reports can provide a detailed analysis of each student's academic strengths and areas for growth in these important core disciplines. The results also help teachers and administrators make informed decisions regarding academic programs to best meet our students' individual needs.
The PARCC assessment not only provides our staff a barometer of how effectively we are providing instruction, it also provides our parents a barometer on how well your child is progressing.
Perhaps the most frequently asked question of a principal is, "Will my child be challenged at your school?" The Illinois Learning Standards and the PARCC assessment does just that.
I ask as a partner in your child's education, please encourage your child on those days to do their best. It is with your partnership that the students of Prairie Grove continue to thrive, learn, and grow.
I hope you all enjoy your weekend and the gorgeous weather heading our way!
Best regards,
Martha Maggiore
Principal
