Brenda McChriston (LP 2006) has been selected to receive a 2017 Enterprising Women of the Year award. The recipients of this award represent women entrepreneurs from across the United States and the world who are CEOs of fast-growth companies, community leaders, and role models and mentors to women and girls.
The Daily Record Top 100 women: this honor is
given annually to recognize outstanding women leaders who are not only professionals in their fields but are also dedicated to community work and mentoring. Congratulations to this year's honorees:

Kim Oldham (LP 2015) has announced her candidacy for Howard County State's Attorney. Kim is a veteran prosecutor for the past 20 years and currently holds the position of Deputy State's Attorney.
Edie Manney (LP 2014) is now the Controller for the Waverly Real Estate Group.
Congratulations to Mary Lasky (LP 2010), project manager at John Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, on her recently published book Powering Through: From Fragile Infrastructures to Community Resilience. The book examines the interdependent, and critical, infrastructures that would be threatened by a sustained electric grid failure. "This book is a call to action," says former CIA Director James Woolsey, "to mobilize whole communities, to prepare, to respond, and to overcome both natural disaster and willful adversaries."

Icing Smiles: Delivering Smiles to Critically Ill Children
Icing Smiles is a nonprofit born from a place where empathy meets a need to give back. Tracy Quisenberry, Premier Class of 2016, created Icing Smiles is 2010 when she understood how stressful it can be to have a child battling a serious illness. "We understand that simple things, like a cake are a luxury to families battling illness. Our goal is to provide a temporary escape and positive memories during a difficult time. A beautiful cake gives a guilt-ridden mom a small victory, a struggling dad a belief in the kindness of strangers, worried grandparents relief when they see two generations of their family finally smiling, a sibling the attention they desperately miss, and the child battling an illness an opportunity to just be a kid."
Today, that small nonprofit is a nationwide community of talented bakers and volunteers who have made the world a little sweeter for those who need it most.
