Community Service + Art
Synergy Kinetic Academy's CASA Club Hosts "Day of Service"

On a Saturday in March, over 100 Synergy students, parents, and community members turned out for a "Day of Service" hosted at Synergy Kinetic Academy by the CASA club. CASA, or Cultura, Aprendizaje, Servicio, Acción, is a service-learning project sponsored by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR). Synergy's participating middle school students meet after school with their teacher advisors to work towards addressing a genuine need in their community through volunteer activities and other learning experiences. Synergy's students gathered data through community walks and identified the need of community beautification in their neighborhood.

At the March 11th "Day of Service," CASA students presented their community walk findings and provided participants with the opportunity to turn trash, leftover from nearby manufacturing, into works of art! We are grateful for all of our community partners who made this event possible, including NCLR for their sponsorship of the event, USC Rossier School of Education's Alumni Association for sending 25 volunteers as part of USC's Global Day of Service, T4T for providing the "clean" trash, and artist and designer Vanessa Rivera for her artistic vision and guidance. Our students will continue their work by reaching out to community leaders to support community beautification efforts.
"Let's Trade Secrets"
The What, How, and Why of Technology Integration

We're "trading secrets" again, and this time the topic is technology integration! Join us for this free educator workshop on Wednesday, April 26th, 12:00 - 3:30 p.m. Learn what platforms and software other educators find effective. Hear how technology can be used as a tool to amplify student achievement. Discuss why successful tech integration is key to improving student outcomes.

We invite fellow educators to dive into these topics with us, sharing ideas and best practices that effectively integrate technology across the curriculum. We will have a number of guest speakers, "table talk" breakouts, and a panel of tech integration experts. Lunch will be provided. Click here to register.
