Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue is a non-profit, completely volunteer-driven organization dedicated
to saving and re-homing Bulldogs with loving families.
Hundreds of Bulldogs are lost, abandoned, taken to animal shelters, or surrende
red to rescue every year. Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue accepts Bulldogs whose owners can no longer keep them, and retrieve Bulldogs from shelters and undesirable situations. Our Bulldogs are placed in suitable homes as soon as reasonably possible.

Ralphie is a 7 year old, 53 pound owner
 surrender, who looks and acts much younger than his age. He joins rescue with a very touching story. He was bought as a puppy and he and his owner were soon very devoted to one another. They lived along the Gulf Coast for five years.
Two years ago, Ralphie's owner suffered a bad stroke. His son in East Texas brought his dad to the local nursing facility for rehab and brought Ralphie to live with him and his family.
The son never really wanted a Bulldog, and already had another dog, but Ralphie was an important part of the dad's family. The son would often take Ralphie to the nursing home to visit his father and it would light up everyone's day. The son also made sure Ralphie had the best vet care.
The son contacted us a few months ago about the situation. His personal dog never liked Ralphie and he also had other needs with his family that needed to be addressed. But he could not discuss surrendering Ralphie with his dad.
His dad died several weeks ago and the son contacted and said it was time.
His wish is for Ralphie to find a home like he had with his dad, where he can be the center of someone's life again.

Meet Tilly
|
My name is Tilly and I think I am about 3 years old.
Not sure exactly how my life ended up this way, but I am here to say I am certainly glad that I was rescued. I have a awful cut on the side of my neck that is really painful, and I have heart worms. I know I was born a beautiful bulldog baby and someone promised to love me and take care of me forever.
Forever for me was not very long. My family made me have puppies and I think I was just a puppy myself when I had puppies! I was picked up my a great animal control person that immediately knew I needed help. When I heard that I was going to LSBCR I was jumping for joy. I was even more excited when someone said "Tilly someone is here for you!" I was dancing and prancing and licking and kissing and I was hurrying really fast to get out to the car and out of town to start my new life.
Then guess what happened to me? Every shelter worker came out of their office and hugged my neck and told me they loved me and I was beautiful and I was going to have the most amazing new life with a family that would love me forever. I laid down right their in the lobby and was kicking my legs in the air so fast with excitement everyone starting to cry and I was just like "Please don't let this moment end, let me be loved like this forever!"
Tilly has been thoroughly vetted and treated for heart worms and is ready for adoption. Tilly's perfect family will be active and will want a constant companion. She is crate trained, house trained and perfection!

We Bulldogs share the strongest interspecies bond with humans. My observations below speak for many of my fellow Bulldogs who have been adopted or need you to adopt us.
- When we were surrendered, neglected, abandoned, abused, deserted, or discarded like yesterday's newspaper, you saved our lives.
- Fearing for our rescue future, all we experienced was your love.
- You gave us security, nutrition, medical care, and affection that we never knew was possible.
- Our new vets set us on a path toward health and happiness.
- You gave us a microchip so we could be found if ever we were lost or stolen.
- Our foster families accepted us despite all our faults and showed us unconditional love.
- Our foster families taught us that a furever family was waiting for us.
- Our foster families cherished us as a gift from God.
- We cherished our adoptive families as a gift from God.
- When you adopt us into your family, we are furever grateful and will always be a loving family member.

Our lovin
g Bulldog family members live but few years. When they die, we are consumed by grief. If you do not know the Rainbow Bridge Poem, please Google the title. It is a short read containing this sentence,
"When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge."
It recites the joy of reunion when we meet them again. It will tug at your heart strings and tear ducts.
The loss of a family Bulldog is painful, especially when children are involved. If the kids are old enough, help them walk through the grief. The lesson in selfless love will abide throughout their lifetimes.
We adults tend to take the loss harder. We have experienced the sting of death but the demise of short-lived loving Bulldogs has a cosmic interspecies impact.
Meg, Brie and I adopted Lola in December 2010. The bond was immediate and blessed by mutual adoration until the last moment in August 2015. I was as broken hearted as I had ever been at the loss of a dog. My pledge to daughter Brie was that I was out of the dog business - the next dog would be hers.
Brie and Meg would have none of my self-absorption. Thank God for their love. I was the poster boy for Bulldog advocacy but was moping in my own self-pity. They convinced me of a valuable lesson; it is never about us, but always about the Bulldog. Bulldogs cannot survive without us. They have no advocate or champion except us.They will perish without our intervention on their behalf.
When Lola crossed the Rainbow Bridge, she waited for us to grieve. Then she put Meg and Brie in touch with LSBCR. By mid October 2015, Lola delivered Gabby to us. We showcase Lola's harness in a place of honor because she lovingly helped us overcome her demise.
When you lose your Bulldog, grieve for the end of a sweet life that intertwined with yours. When the time is right, and you are ready to love again, resolve to cherish another Bulldog. It is what your Bulldog and all the others who crossed the Rainbow Bridge want you to do. Your heart will sing and your soul will rejoice with Bulldog hugs and kisses.

Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue is heading down to Waco to represent our beloved breed at this event! The goal of the fun day will be to educate the public about the large number of purebred dogs in need of forever homes.

Top Golf For Bulldoggers! (April 23)
Join us April 23 from 3:00-6:00 to hit some balls while  raising money for our foster Bulldogs! Your $50 ticket includes three hours of golf (and clubs) and our buffet with mini-burgers, dogs, chicken fingers and soda. A cash bar and silent auction also will be available! Dog-friendly dogs are welcome, as long as they are leashed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Consider Becoming a Foster Family for a Rescue
In March we set a record with 50 dogs in rescue and more in process. Since we have no shelter facility, where do all these dogs go? Thankfully, foster families open their loving hearts and homes to the new rescues. In this safe and warm-hearted environment, the rescues learn that their past life is behind them. They literally receive a new lease on life. The foster families prepare them for their new furever home with an adoptive family.
While rescuing more Bulldogs is noble and indeed our mission, the influx of dogs is straining the adoptive family network. Some have taken in more dogs even though there is little extra space. We need more folks to volunteer as fosters, even if you can only do so temporarily.
When you volunteer to be a foster, there is an approval process. Once approved, you receive email contacts about rescued dogs. They will be treated at the vet, if necessary, before arriving at your home. We can provide the basics like crate, pad, and bowls. Some fosters provide these on their own, which we appreciate as it frees up resources to serve other dogs. LSBCR provides the meds and asks the fosters to provide the food, toys, and other touches that make the dog feel wanted and loved.
Please open your heart, home, and life to fostering a helpless Bulldog. We will offer advice and support. You might be surprised about how good you feel by sheltering and starting a happier life for these loving companions.
