Dear Fourth
Grade Families,
It is hard to believe we are in the last trimester of Fourth Grade. It was great to see your child so empowered and aware of their learning during conferences last week. They have all made so much growth and have become much more aware of their learning, successes and challenges as Fourth graders.
We have lots planned for this last trimester and look forward to these last two and a half months. Please remember to check out and bid on our amazing classroom auction item (clock), have an amazing Spring Break April 10-14th, and start getting excited for our Gold Rush overnight trip in May.
Thanks again for all that you do in making this year so amazing for your kids and their teachers!
Sincerely,
Your Fourth Grade Team
Lucinda Druck and Tyler Elliott

What We Have Been Learning
|
|
Student-Led Conferences
As of today, all of the Fourth Graders have led their very first conference! This is an important milestone in their Sea Crest experience and we thank you for your support and open-mindedness! Please look over your child's portfolio if you haven't already and send it back to school as soon as possible. We will be adding to the portfolio in Trimester 3!
|
Science
Students created "mini" presentations on an animal of their choice, highlighting animal behavioral and structural adaptations. Next, we will be investigating humans.
|
|
Math
We are moving into our unit on fractions and will be learning all about parts of wholes and sets, while we add, order and make equivalent fractions.
|
Social Studies
To culminate our immigration study, we will be interviewing people in our community who have immigrated to the United States. Tonight for homework students will begin to make arrangements for when and where they will conduct their interviews. Next week we will share out what we learned and decide how we want to represent and celebrate all that we have learned in this study.
|
|
Talking with your child is the best way to support classroom learning. The following questions can help you get started.
- Who will you interview for our immigration study?
- Why did you choose to research your social/global issue?
- Where do we use or see fractions outside of school?
- What are some ways humans impact animals (negetively/positively)?
