Spotlight: STEM
San Mateo County STEM Fair
Congratulations to our five 7th grade winners (out of five representatives) at the San Mateo County STEM Fair last week! All of them won an award: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in their categories, and two honorable mentions. We are so proud of them. Thanks to our wonderful Science Teacher, Rob Kashima, for inspiring and guiding them!  Read more.

All-Girls Science Fair
Congratulations to Emma Steadman who won the 2nd place award last week at this event! Mercy Burlingame High School hosts this annual science fair for middle school girls. The four representatives from Sea Crest were:
  • "The Cookie Sheet Bake-Off" by Emma Steadman
  • "The Effects of Liquid Consumption on the Amount, pH and Specific Gravity of Urine" by Callisto Lodwick
  • "Differences in Bacteria Removal Between Tongue Scraper and Toothbrush" by Shea Wakasa
  • "How Does Having a Dog Affect Your Microbiome?" by Sam Knowles

In the News: A curtain call of community. Combined efforts contribute to ‘Seussical’ success!
Half Moon Bay Review. By Srah Griego Guz.

The curtain rose on Sea Crest’s “Seussical” as whimsical monkeys, kangaroos and birds with feather boa tails bounded across the stage to the tunes of “Biggest Blame Fool” and “Solla Sollew.”

The triumph of Friday’s final production was the culmination of three months of hard work by both middle and lower school students as well as the effort and dedication of parent and community volunteers.

Parent Education Workshop: Distraction, Multi-Tasking and Time Management, Friday, March 17th, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., Think Tank. Research shows that media multitasking while studying and learning can have a negative impact on our children's academic performance. Speaker Laurie Schoeffler, Student Support Coordinator, will provide tools to work around media disruption.

Athletics Recognition Assembly, Friday, March 17th, 8:30 a.m., Kohrs Family Center.

Middle School Dance, Friday March 17th, 7:30 p.m., Kohrs Family Center.

Athletics Updates
Both Girls Basketball teams are playing in the SSIL Championship games this afternoon!
  • The 6th-7th grade team travels to Palo Alto to play Bowman at 4:00 p.m. They won a close game against Hausner on Tuesday to get to the championship game.

  • The 7th-8th grade team plays here at Sea Crest against Waldorf at 4:00 pm.
